Sophie M. Carr, 95, of Boca Raton passed away at The Fountains Nursing Home on Saturday, Oct. 12. 2002. 
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 19. 1906. The family would like to thank The Fountains staff for all their kindness and care, and a special thanks to Hospice By The Sea Care Center in Boca Raton as well.
Sophie was preceded in death by her son Daniel Douglass. She is survived by her husband Edward E. Carr of Boca Raton, two daughters: Harriet J. (Frank C.) Erdmann of Boca Raton and Ruth M. Sloan of Bangor, Pa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at Babione Funeral Home, southeast corner of Glades Road and Federal Highway, where a wake service will take place at 7 p.m. A graveside service will take place 11:30 a.m. on Wed., October 16, 2002 at the Boca Raton Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers to Hospice By The Sea Care Center, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486.

Therese Joyce, 96, of Boca Raton died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 at Hospice By The Sea Care Center. 
She and her late husband John P. Joyce moved to Boca Raton from Cicero, Ill., in 1972 to be with her late brother Edward Santell.

Frances Hager Fears, 74, of Jupiter, passed away on Oct. 15, 2002. Mrs. Fears moved to Boca Raton in 1956.
She is survived by a son James H. Hager of Boynton Beach, daughter Lisa Hager Elmore of Boynton Beach, sister Bernice Perry of Fort Lauderdale, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and longtime companion Arthur Colucci of Jupiter.

Marjorie Elizabeth Tarayos

Marjorie Elizabeth Tarayos, 79, of Boca Raton, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
Daughter of Gladys and Malcolm Flannery, she was born Oct. 24, 1922 in Ashland, Ky., but grew up in Buffalo, N.Y. On Dec. 7, 1940, she married Julius Tarayos. Their first anniversary coincided with the attack on Pearl Harbor. They moved to Boca Raton in 1956 to open one of Boca’s first grocery stores, Julie’s Food Shop. In her retirement years, Marge moved to Orlando where she “un-retired” and worked another 15 years for Disney World.
She is survived by her daughters Tomolyn (Carl) Harris of Crofton, Md.; Nancy (Peter) Schmidt of Boca Raton; and Any Mann of Boca Raton; and her son, Michael (Lee) Tarayos of Orlando; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Julius A. Tarayos, her daughter, Sally Whitman, and her grandson, Michael Gresser.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

Ruth Nelson Kraft

Mrs. Ruth Nelson Kraft of Boca Raton, formerly of Douglaston, N.Y., died at her home on Oct. 19, 2002. She was the widow of the late Arthur T. Kraft. Mrs. Kraft was a graduate of Northwestern University and taught English in Nassau County, New York. She studied graduate courses at the Eastman School of Music and the Julliard School of Music. 
Mrs. Kraft was a concert pianist and philanthropist, promoting the advancement of young artists through her donations to the Lynn University Conservatory of Music and the St. Louis Art Museum. 
She was one of the First Presidents of the National Society of Arts and Letters Boca Raton/South Florida Chapter as well as serving on the National Board. Mrs. Kraft was a member of the Excalibur Society at Lynn University, The Delray Beach Club, The Cosmopolitan Club, N.Y., and The University Club of Florida Atlantic University.
She is survived by cousins John and Barbara Sue Theodorow and family Robert and Laura Theodorow and Rev. David Warren. Burial will be in St. Louis.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, 245 E. Boca Raton Rd., Boca Raton.

Keith Clinton Wold, M.D. 
Boca Raton
Keith Clinton Wold, M.D., 79, passed away at his home in Boca Raton on October 1, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Dr. Wold was born in St. Paul, Minn., in 1924, the son of Karl Christian Wold, M.D., and Maybelle Lundgren Wold. He graduated high school from St. Paul Academy in 1942, received his B.S. in Medicine from the University of North Dakota in 1948, and graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1951.
During World War II, Dr. Wold served in the U. S. Army Medical Corp and his tour of duty included the South Pacific. In 1949, he married Elaine Johnson of New Brunswick, N.J., and had two children, Keith C. Wold Jr. and Diana J. Wold. In 1955, Dr. Wold moved his family from Minnesota to Fort Lauderdale, where he maintained an active practice in ophthalmology, specializing in eye surgery.
Dr. Wold was an avid yachtsman and participated in numerous ocean sailing races. He also had a passion for Florida-bred thoroughbreds and was involved in breeding and racing. Many of his horses raced at Calder Race Course, Gulfstream Park and Hialeah.
Dr. Wold and his wife, Elaine, formed The Bay Branch Foundation in 1961 and the Wold Charitable Trust to support education and research projects. His primary focus was providing assistance to the handicapped and disabled. Their philanthropic efforts have spread throughout the South Florida community and beyond. Wold Corporation was formed in Florida in 1976 to manage business investments in agriculture, real estate and transportation. Dr. Wold was honored with the Sioux Award as the Alumnus of the Year in 1990 by the University of North Dakota for his outstanding dedication to the field of medicine. Dr. and Mrs. Wold have served as chairpersons for the Boca Raton Community Hospital Ball and numerous charitable events in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
Dr. Wold is a past Co-Chairman of the Grace Commission Self-Study of Government for the City of Boca Raton and served on the Board of Trustees of Boca Raton Community Hospital for many years. 
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine; his son, Keith C. Wold Jr., (Clio Pavlantos) of New York City; and daughter, Diana J. Wold (Donald S. Marszalek) of Boca Raton; two granddaughters, Diana Elaine Marszalek of Boca Raton, and Mary Lea Ruth Wold of New York City. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Wold Johnson of Princeton, N.J.; his brother, Sidney R. Wold, M.D., of Danville, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Wold was predeceased by his sister, Mary W. Strong, of Boca Raton.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Boca Raton at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 4, 2003. The family requests no flowers. A memorial has been established in the name of Dr. Keith C. Wold at Boca Raton Community Hospital Foundation, 745 Meadows Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486; and Hospice by the Sea Inc., 1531 W. Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486. Interment service is private for immediate family only.
 

Lt. Col. Doak S. Campbell Jr.

CAMPBELL, Lt. Col. Doak S., Jr. (retired), 88, of Boca Raton passed away October 1, 2003. Born February 28, 1915 in Conway, Ark., he was the son of the late Doak S. Campbell (former President of Florida State University) and Helen Gray Campbell. Col. Campbell was a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, first as a pilot and later as an administrator. Upon completion of his military career in 1964, he worked for the state of Alabama in Montgomery until he permanently retired to Boca Raton in 1978. Col. Campbell is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary C. Campbell, his son Doak S. Campbell III of Delray Beach, a daughter Helen Jo Crawford of Charlotte, N.C., two granddaughters Donna Beinstein and Marsha Bailey, six great-grandchildren Hannah, Samuel, Micayla, Chase, Clay, Paige, and one sister Caroline Thomas of Oak Harbor, Wash. Condolences may be sent to the family home and in lieu of flowers, masses may be requested at St. Jude Catholic Church, Boca Raton, or donations made to Hospice by The Sea, Boca Raton. Mr. Yeakle is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Kathleen, four children: Thomas, Broderick (Lorraine), David (Carola), and Katie, and three grandchildren: Michael, Madeleine and Maxine.

John Bullard Ray Dyer
Mr. John Bullard Ray Dyer, 96, of 911 Irving Ave., Eden, Ore., died September 24, 2003. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2 p.m. at the Leaksville United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Friday Evening, 6-9 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home.
John was a native of Eden and a life-long resident. He was the son of the late Addie and Brewer Dyer. He was a member of the Leaksville United Methodist Church.
Very early in his life Mr. Dyer went into business for himself. His business evolved into what is now Dyer’s Inc. Just two months ago, Mr. Dyer was the first recipient of the coveted award “Partners In Progress” for Rockingham County. This award recognizes small businesses in the county. He was an avid Republican, affectionately known as “Mr. Republican” in Rockingham County. Mr. Dyer was always interested in contributing to the betterment of his hometown and served Eden as a city council member from 1969 through 1981.
Survivors include a large loving family and many friends and admirers to include eight children, one of which resides locally, his son, Bobby B. Dyer and wife, Pat, of Boca Raton; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Leaksville United Methodist Church in Eden, Ore., or the RCC Alice & John Dyer Scholarship Fund.

Emery K. Bridge

Emery K. Bridge, 99, passed way September 25, 2003. Mr. Bridge was a self-employed paving contractor in Ohio. He was a 33rd degree Mason and active member of Kiwanis and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton, preceded in death by his first wife Leona Kite Bridge, who passed away in 1980, and by his second wife Genevieve Bridge.
He is survived by his loving daughter Mary Lou Slee. Family will receive friends Sunday, September 28. 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 29, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton. Entombment will take place later in the week in Toledo, Ohio.
