Dr. Torrey M. Johnson, 93, beloved pastor of Boca Raton Community Church/Bibletown
from 1965 to 1980, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2002.
His wife of 71 years, Evelyn, followed him in death on Thursday, May
16, 2002.
Both died of natural causes.
Dr. Johnson was the founder of Youth for Christ International and while
serving as a pastor in Boca Raton, he supported the beginning years of
St. Andrews Estates North by encouraging church members and friends to
enter as residents. He was also a personal friend of Billy Graham and was
instrumental in Dr. Graham's life when he became an evangelist many years
ago.
Dr. and Mrs. Johnson are survived by daughters, Ruth Johnson and Arleen
(Keith) Yoder and a son, Torrey Jr. (Susan) Johnson; grandchildren, Stephen
W. Johnson, Kimberly (Bruce) Cameron, Torrey E. Johnson, John (Suzanne)
Yoder and Christine (Flavio) Escareno and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is held Tuesday, May 21 at the Hultgren Funeral Home in
Wheaton, Ill. Cliff Barrows, Billy Graham's associate of many years, will
officiate at the funeral service followed by interment at Wheaton Cemetery
held Wednesday, May 22, in Wheaton, Ill. Memorial gifts may be directed
to Youth for Christ International, Boca Raton Community Church or to Boca
Raton Christian School.

Florence L. "Dolly" Gilmore, 75, of New Milford, Conn. and Boca Raton,
Fla., died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at the New Milford Hospital. She was
the wife of B. Preston Gilmore.
Ms. Gilmore was born April 28, 1927 in North Providence, R.I. the daughter
of the late Howard and Lillian (McMahon) Thomas. With her family, she moved
to Waterbury, Conn. in 1933. She attended Kingsbury School in Waterbury,
Briarcliff School in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., the Barry College in Miami
Shores, Fla. and Curry College in Boston, Mass.
In the 1940s she had a daily radio program on station WATR in Waterbury,
which was started by her father and later owned by Mrs. Gilmore. She was
a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Washington and St. Joan
of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton. She also was a member of the Lake
Waramaug Country Club, the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club and the Delray
Beach Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mark T. Gilmore
of Southbury and Steven P. Gilmore of Woodbury, two daughters, Jacquelyn
M. Cloherty of Waltham, Mass. and Susan Geiger of Waitsfield, Vt. and nine
grandchildren. An infant son, Gregory, predeceased her.
Friends may call, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 31 at the Rowe Funeral
Home in Litchfield, Conn. A Mass of Christian burial is held, 10:30 a.m.,
Saturday, June 1 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church followed by burial
in St. Anthony Cemetery in Litchfield, Conn. Memorial contributions may

Drummond Paul Jr.

Drummond Paul Jr., of Boca Raton and a longtime resident of Miami,
died Monday morning, May 20, 2002 in Boca Raton where he resided at St.
Andrews Estates North. A native Floridian, Mr. Paul was born on Oct. 5,
1912 in Jacksonville where he graduated from Lee High School. He attended
the University of Florida where he obtained his law degree.
During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force
in Indianapolis, Ind.Mr. Paul was an active member of the Florida Bar Association
for over 56 years, retiring with honor and distinction. In the 1950s, Mr.
Paul was director of the Dade County Bar Association and represented the
county as special attorney. He began his practice with the firm of Hudson
and Cason in Miami and retired from private practice in Miami Shores in
1998.
A devout Christian, Mr. Paul was a member of the Miami Beach Community
Church where he served as a deacon and trustee.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edna Paul and his daughter
and son-in-law, Barbara and Harry Brown. He will be remembered by all who
knew him for his kind deeds, his integrity, his love of his country, his
Christian beliefs and above all, as a loving husband and father.
A memorial service is held, 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28 in the auditorium
at St. Andrews Estates North. The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
a thoughtful and caring deed be done in his honor. Local arrangements are

Flavian Santavicca Jr.

Dr. Flavian Santavicca Jr., 62, of Boca Raton, died Thursday, May 23,
2002 in Boca Raton. He was born June 18, 1939 in Braddock, Pa., the son
of the late Flavian Sr. and Josephine Zablocki Santavicca.
Dr. Santavicca was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School. He was a
veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from their Electronics
School in Biloxi, Miss. with high honors. He received his Bachelor of Science
in Education from California State College in California, Pa.
While at California State College he was active in student government
and was a member of the honorary science fraternity Chi Beta Psi and the
social fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda. He then earned his Master of Education
in Aug. of 1958 from the University of Pittsburgh and was a member of the
Iota Lambda Sigma professional fraternity. Dr. Santavicca earned 23 post-masters
degree credits from the University of Pittsburgh and published his research
paper "An Analysis of an Expertly Supervised Technical Education Program
in Washington, Pa." On June 23, 1974 he graduate Summa Cum Laude and Salutatorian
from Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he was a member of the Pi Tau
Delta National Honor Society. On May 27, 1974, he completed a 120-hour
course in Physical Therapy from Logan College of Chiropractic.
His teaching career includes a federal training program with RCA in
Washington, Pa., Forbes Trail Technical School in Monroeville, Pa., United
States Steel Research in Monroeville, Pa., Lenape Vocational Technical
School in Ford City, Pa., Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, Pa.,
Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and Blackhawk College
in Rock Island, Ill.
Dr. Santavicca held chiropractic licenses in Pa. and Fla. and was a
fellow member of the American Council of Applied Clinical Nutrition, International
Chiropractors Association, American Chiropractic Association, Pennsylvania
Chiropractic Association, Diplomat of the National board of Chiropractic
Examiners, Precision Chiropractic Research Society,
International Arthritis Research Society and the Florida Chiropractic
Association.
In the three years between 1974 and 1977 he developed one of the largest
single doctor chiropractic practices in the nation. He was also the founder
and chairman of the board of Santavicca and Associates of Boca Raton, a
professional consulting firm that advised over three hundred chiropractic
physicians throughout the United States and Canada.
Dr. Santavicca was a Christian and is a member of SunCoast Community
Church in Boca Raton.
Surviving is his wife, Gloria J. Selvaggi of Boca Raton whom he married
on Feb. 12, 1966. Also surviving is a son, Dr. David A. Santavicca and
a daughter, Darcie L. Pritchett, both of Boca Raton; a sister, Arlene Suvak
of Irwin, Pa.; two brothers, Carl Santavicca of Purcellville, Va. and Adam
Santavicca of Crofton, Md; an uncle; four aunts and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Friends will be received, 7-9 p.m., Sunday, May 26 and 2-4 p.m. and
7-9 p.m., Monday, May 27 at the Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home in Washington,
Pa. Funeral services will be held, 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28 at the DeAngelo
Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray,
Pa.

Irene L. Doyle, 96, of Denmark, Maine died Friday at Bridgton Hospital

Mrs. Doyle was born March 30, 1906 in Bourge, France, a daughter of
Henri and Pauline Chavaliere Mignard. She came here in 1925 and was a homemaker
all of her life. Her husband, William L. Doyle, died May 18, 1978.
Mrs. Doyle attended St. Joseph’s Church in Bridgton, Maine.
She is survived by three sons, Henry W. of Marshfield, Mass., Robert
P., M.D., of Denmark, Maine, and Ronald J. of Boca Raton, Fla.; three daughters,
Marie Anne Hines of Hyde Park, Mass., Colette Jackson of Hyde Park, Mass.,

Mrs. Sterry is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur F. Sterry;

Christopher Sterry of Coral Springs, Fla.; and four grandchildren. She
