Alice Sue Marion
Alice Sue Marion, age 59, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
Born May 17, 1941, in St. Cloud, Mrs. Marion was a housewife by occupation.
Survivors include: her husband, Kenneth E. Marion of Okeechobee; two daughters, Wendy Fipps of Okeechobee and Karen Lasitter of Titusville; son, Maynard Lasitter of Orlando; two sisters, Tina Bailey of Bithlo and Pam Harbove of Orlando; Theodore Mapes of Orlando; 12 grandchildren; and, three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Peggy Jean Davis
Peggy Jean Davis, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Lawnwood Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Lovick, Ala., coming from Miami to Okeechobee in 1970. She was a housewife by occupation and was Baptist by faith.
Ms. Davis is survived by one brother, William T. Cardwell of Trussville, Ala.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Margaret C. Scherer
Margaret C. Scherer, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Dec. 26, 2000, at Raulerson Hospital.
She was born in New Hope, Ala. and has lived in Okeechobee for the last 25 years, and is also a member of the Ladies Elks.
Ms. Scherer is survived by her sister Jesse Boyer of Indianapolis, Ind., three nieces, three nephews, one great-niece and, her best friend Bill ussell.
There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan 3, at 11 a.m. in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.

Norman R. Anderson
Norman R. Anderson, age 61, of Okeechobee, died January 1, 2001 at his residence. Born December 31, 1940 in Jamestown, N.Y., Mr. Anderson had been a resident of Okeechobee for twenty years. Having served in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Anderson was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by numerous family members. He was a very loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
There will be no visitation or services.

Elizabeth Mamie Fletcher
Elizabeth Mamie Fletcher, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at Raulerson Hospital. Born Jan. 18,1917 in Eden, Md., Mrs.Fletcher had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1975 and was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include: her husband of 29 years, Richard "Dean" Fletcher of Okeechobee; three sons, Charles C. Smith (Dorothy) of Salisbury, Md., Edward L. Smith (Linda) of Parsonburg, Md., and Roger W. Smith (Peggy) of Princess Ann, Md.; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 starting at 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Atkins, Fort Drum Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Drum Cemetery.

Frederick Michael Mosser
Frederick Micheal Mosser, age 50, of Tamarac, died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at his parent's residence in Buckhead Ridge. Born January 23, 1950 in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Mosser had formerly resided in Okeechobee before relocating to Tamarac.
Survivors include: his parents, Robert and Helen Mosser of Buckhead Ridge in Okeechobee.

Elmer Lee Underwood
Elmer Lee Underwood, age 72, died January 7, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Palm Brach. He was born on Oct. 20, 1928 in Ravenna, Texas. Mr. Underwood was in the U.S. Army during WW. II and received a Victory Medal and Army of Occupation medal in Japan. Mr. Underwood owned and operated a mobile home sales business in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his wife, Naomia "Polly"Underwood of Okeechobee, two sons: Nickey Underwood & wife Susan , and Dale Underwood & wife Bettye of Okeechobee, five grandchildren: William, Laurie, Lisa, Jennifer, Rhonda & Nonah, three great-grandchildren: Allayah, Makayla and Megan. Two sisters; Doris Boswell & husband Jim, and Evelyn Richardson, one brother; Earl Underwood & wife Johnnie, two sisters-in-law: Tommie Bowlin and Dorothy Underwood, one brother-in-law; John Akard and wife Bettye and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will on Friday, Jan. 12 starting at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard E. Whipple officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 11, starting at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Rosalie Fitch
Rosalie Fitch, age 63, beloved and cherished wife of 46 years to Robert A. Fitch of Basinger, was called home by the Lord Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. She was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Herber Springs, Ark.
Rosalie adored her family which includes her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert D. Fitch of Port St. Lucie, and John W. and Kimberly Fitch of Oakland Park, as well as her daughter and son-in-law Sissy and Dr. Marty Allen of St. Joseph, Ill. She was a dedicated grandmother to four adored grandchildren, Kristin and Chelsea Allen and Alexa and Johnny Fitch. She considered herself blessed with loving parents-in-law, Don and Florence Fitch of Sebring, and her brother, Jim Smith and sister Genevive Jethro of Herber Springs, Ark. She also treasured her nephew Don Cooper and family of Port St. Lucie and niece Jo-Ann Young and family of Lake Wales.
A graveside service will be held at the Basinger Cemetery in Basinger on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. Her family will also be holding a remembrance gathering for family and friends on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the O.P. Collins Community Center, 3900 N.E. Third Ave., Oakland Park, Fla.

Richard Yontz
Richard Yontz, (Pappy) (Buddy), age 73, of Pompano Beach died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001. Born in Tampa and previous resident of Okeechobee. he served in the Army after WWII . He was a letter Carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Pompano Beach until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid Bass fisherman.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 52 years; Ella Mae,one daughter, Jean(Guy) Gallo of Coral Springs, two sons; Clayton Yontz (Pam) of Sunrise and Robert Yontz (Cheryl) of Ft. Lauderdale, seven grandchildren; Casey, Cara & Christie Yontz, Danny, Tina & Lisa Gallo, Candice Yontz, one great-grandson, Andrew, three sisters; Helen Keene of Mich., Maude (Dwayne) Jones of Ga., Lucy (Wally) Edmondson of Lakeland, two brothers; Raymond Yontz of Pompano Beach and Billy Beville (Nancy) of Kissimmee.
Viewing will start at 2 until 4 p.m.Friday at the Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach where services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday.

Lola C. Evans
Lola C. Evans, age 88, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at her residence. Born July 22, 1912, in Marlette, Mich., Mrs. Evans had been a resident of Okeechobee for 32 years, having formerly resided in Flint, Mich.
Survivors include: her husband, Ralph Evans of Okeechobee; three daughters, Alice Cooper (Harry) of Haines City, Carol Hennessy (Leonard) of Okeechobee and Vicki Gaffney (Robert) of Flint, Mich.; one son, Ralph Evans (Amanda) of Hialeah; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and, one great-great-granddaughter.
There will be no visitation or services.

George D. Pitts Jr.
George D. Pitts Jr., age 48, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born July 9, 1952, in Zanesville, Ohio, Mr. Pitts had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years. He enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 30 years, Margaret Pitts of Okeechobee; two sons, Joe Pitts and Terry Pitts of Okeechobee; two daughters, Kimm Pitts and Carrie Pitts of Okeechobee; three grandsons, Thomas Pitts, Dennis Pitts and Juno Rosias of West Palm Beach; and, one granddaughter, Ashley Church of West Palm Beach.
There will be no visitation or services.

William H. Evans
William H. Evans, 75, died on January 7, 2001, in Fort Pierce. Mr. Evans was born in Irvine, Ky, and was a resident of Okeechobee before moving to Fort Pierce six months ago. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired Radio Announcer.
Survivors include: one son, William H. Evans, Jr., and one daughter, Gladys Evans Carr.
Funeral services are on Friday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce. Pastor Charles Morton will be officiating the services.

William E. Walker
William E. Walker, age 59, died January 11, 2001 at the V.A. Hospital in West Palm Beach. Mr. Walker was born February 19, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in a Bulk Oil Plant.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol J. Schillig of Okeechobee, two daughters; Domnique Barnes of N.C., and Ginger Crews of Colorado, one brother, Dana Walker of Montana, one sister, Jan Worvy of Corville, Iowa and one granddaughter.
There will be no services.

Johnny Lee Brazzell
Johnny Lee Brazzell, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 at Raulerson Hospital. Born August 7, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo., Mr. Brazzell had been a resident of Okeechobee for seven years.
Survivors include: one brother, Joe Riggins of Hawaii and Seattle,Wash., two sisters, Billie McCrory of West Palm Beach and Dainie Cecil of Caruthersville, Mo; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Sullivan of Okeechobee, Edward Cecil of Caruthersville, Mo. and Norris McCrory of West Palm Beach.
There will be no visitation or services.

Ellen Ann Laws
Ellen Ann Laws, age 57, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001 at Raulerson Hospital. Born November 1, 1943 in Wyandott, Mich., Mrs. Laws had been a resident of Okeechobee for eight months. She was 'Mom' to everyone that knew her.
Survivors include one son, Mark H. Laws of Okeechobee; two daughters, Ramona Claudette Crenshaw Johnston of Houston, Texas and Joanna Omona Laws of Fort Lauderdale; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Crenshaw of Caddomills, Texas and Donald Crenshaw of Tampa; and two sisters, Gloria Carpenti of Caddomills, Texas and Jerri Wallace.
There will be no visitation or services.

Rudolph 'Buddy' Victor Sage
Rudolph 'Buddy' Victor Sage, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Goulds, Mr. Sage had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1953. He was a produce farmer and was well known in this area as the owner and operator of Sage's produce.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Eva; two sons, Arthur L. Sage of Okeechobee, Ronald K. Sage and his wife JoAnn of Okeechobee; one daughter, Sharon A. Saietta also of Okeechobee. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Gibbs of Sebring.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.

Mariano Peter Paul Ragusa
Mariano Peter Paul Ragusa, age 84, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at his residence in Buckhead Ridge. Born June 29,1916, in New York City, N.Y., coming to Okeechobee from Marlboro in 1987.
Mr. Ragusa was a electrical contractor and a member of the Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Okeechobee Blue Lodge; Order of the Eastern Star of Okeechobee; Okeechobee High 12 Club; Scottist Rite Valley of Lake Worth; York Valley of Albany, N.Y.; Okeechobee Shrine Club; Amara AAONMS; past president of the Buckhead Ridge Volunteer Fire Department; past president of the Buckhead Ridge Lions Club; former constable town of Malboro, N.Y. ; former member of the Okeechobee Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Session of Marlboro, N.Y.; and, also a former member of the National Guard.
Survivors include: Elsie Ragusa of Okeechobee; daughter, Ruth Lynn Carney of Waschester, Pa.; son, Thomas Marion Ragusa of Malboro, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and, two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan .17, at 11 a.m. at the Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Lyons officiating.

Mary M. Newhouse
Mary M. Newhouse, age 64, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001 at her residence in Okeechobee. Mrs. Newhouse was born on Jan. 2, 1937 in Elba, Ala., and was a previous resident in Palm City.
She is preceded in her death by her husband: Henry Newhouse; Father: Mancel Mauldin; Mother: Laurel F. Mauldin and her daughter: Gail Sinigoi.
Survivors include: seven daughters; Sharon Barnes of Stuart ; Marie DeBarge of La.;Kay Henderson of Nashville, N.C.; Peggy Inskeep and Anne Klinsporn, both of Port St. Lucie; Tina Larson of Stuart ; and Vicki Ward of Melbourne, five sons: H. Norris Newhouse of Okeechobee; Jody Newhouse of Port St. Lucie; Mark Newhouse of Pinesville, N.C.; Paul Newhouse of Chelsea, Mich.;Todd Newhouse of Palm Bay; 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 310 S.W. Sixth St. in Okeechobee.
