George D. Moffett, 58, of Masaryktown, died Friday, Jan. 1, at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
Born in Amory, Miss., he came to this area eight years ago from Ft. Lauderdale. He was a heavy equipment operator for Overstreet Paving Company, a United States Air Force veteran and a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a son, George Jr. of Clearwater; two daughters, Gwenda Cannon of Ft. Lauderdale and Christina Gillan of Cincinnati, Ohio; his parents, George and Corrine Moffett of Masaryktown; two sisters, Virginia Albritton of Masaryktown and Dorothy Overstreet of Micanopy; and six grandchildren.

Jean H. Johnson, 78, of Cloverleaf in Brooksville, died Saturday, Jan. 2, at Hospice House in Hudson.
Born in Oshkosh, Wisc., she came to this area 18 years ago from Madison, Wisc. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
She is survived by her husband, Paul H. of Brooksville and two daughters, Paula McKahan of Brooksville and Linda Schara of Davenport, Iowa.

William L. Heikkila
William L. Heikkila, 63, of Masaryktown, died Thursday, Dec. 31, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he moved to this area 18 years ago from Ft. Lauderdale. He was an electronic technician and a member and trustee of Holy Trinity Church of Masaryktown.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, William II; and a sister, Myra Ricker of Rock Ledge.

Charles Lee Bourgeois, 51, of Ridge Manor, died Thursday, Dec. 31, at home.
He was born in Jackson, Mich., and moved to this area 16 years ago. He retired from Keysley-Hayes Company, was a member of the Men's Monday Night Bowling League, and a Catholic by faith.

He was a retired payroll clerk for People's Natural Gas Company of Pittsburgh, a Korean War U.S. Army veteran, active in the Just Us Kids Bowling League, Lakeland, and Cloverleaf Square Dance Club, Brooksville, and a member of American Legion Post 77, Aspinwall, Pa., Pennsylvania Club of Zephyrhills, where he was currently treasurer and past president, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was a retired produce manager for A&P Grocery Store, a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, a volunteer fireman for the West Islip Fire Department, Long Island, a leader for the St. Petersburg Neighborhood Crime Watch Society, volunteered in the bicycle shop at the St. Petersburg Police Department, and was a member and three-time elected president of the St. Petersburg Stamp Club and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Born in Marshallville, Ga; she moved to this area 59 years ago from McRae, Ga. She was a homemaker and Protestant.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Kilgore of Brooksville and Julian Rowe of Tallahassee; three sisters, Annie Ottinger and Mary Lewis, both of Brooksville and Ruth Angel of Daytona Beach; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was a payroll clerk for the State of Connecticut; a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Spring Hill; a member of the Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Isabella; and was president of the Connecticut Club, Spring Hill, for seven terms.
She is survived by a son, Frank of San Diego; a daughter, Dorothy Jolliff of Spring Hill; a brother, Louis Piazza of Weeki Wachee North; a sister, Nancy Wolfe of Brooksville; four children and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mae Young, 82, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
Born in New York, N.Y., she moved to this area 20 years ago from Queens, N.Y. She was a retired receptionist for the New York Daily News and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Women's Guild, Work Shop and Rosary Group.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

William W. "Smokey" Cheeseman, 74, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at Arbors of Port Charlotte.
Born in New York, N.Y., he came to this area 18 years ago from South Belmar, N.J. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Stage West the American Legion. He was a Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Aurora of Spring Hill; a daughter, Kathleen Cameron of Port Charlotte; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James L. Whitman, 79, of Brooksville, died Sunday, Jan. 10, at his home.
He moved to this area 54 years ago from his native Land O' Lakes. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, working many years for Charles Sasser, Portland Cement and Triton Construction, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Hernando Masonic Lodge 97 and Northside Baptist Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; three sons, John of Corbin, Ky., Gary of Brooksville and Rick of Ocala; a brother, Tommy of Tampa; two sisters, Margiebell Mason of Tampa and Gail Bigica of Ruskin; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was born in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and moved to this area 35 years ago from Clearwater. He was a project manager for construction companies and a member of the Episcopal Church, Clearwater.

Cathryn Rose Wubbel, 85, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
She was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to this area 19 years ago from Cape Cod, Mass. She was a homemaker and a member of Dayspring Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert J.; a son, Richard of Oak Brook, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Mildred B. Farmer, 95, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Ponderosa Pines, Spring Hill.
She was a member of Northside Church of Christ, Brooksville.

Louis O. Wenzel, 87, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Frederick, Md., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Royal Oak, Mich. He was a chief accountant for Canadian National Railroad, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Adele; a stepson, Marcel Giroux of Ontario, Canada; a daughter, Bertie Lou Hacker of Lexington, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Patricia Young of Ontario; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Amelia Hutchins Groves, 94, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Brooksville Health Care Center.
She was born in Utica, Miss., and moved to this area 52 years ago from Vicksburg, Miss. She was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Charles of Ashland, Ala., William of Huntsville, Ala., and Dan of Brooksville; a brother, Wade Hutchins of Utica; a sister, Ruby Trapozzano of St. Petersburg; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She moved to this area 12 years ago from her native Bethlehem, Pa. She was a real estate broker, and a member of the Hernando Computer Club and Nativity Lutheran Church, Spring Hill.

He was born in Woodlawn, Pa., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Annapolis, Md. He was a salesman in the steel industry and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill.

Wimbert C. "Wimpy" Wynn, 75, of Lutz, died Thursday, Jan. 14, in Tampa.
He was born in Tooms County, Ga., and moved to this area 71 years ago from Georgia. He was an Interstate truck driver, a member of Professional Truck Driver, a longtime Lutz Pioneer, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Helen O.; two sons, Wimbert C., Jr. and Vernon W., both of Lutz; two sisters, Lennie Wynn Heck of Lutz and Joy Wynn Byron of Inverness; a brother, Dale Patrick of Inverness; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was born in New Albany, Ohio, and moved to this area 23 years ago from Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a retired school teacher with the Cincinnati School System, a member of the YMCA and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her son, Roger of Spring Hill; two sisters, Nancy Touchman and Joan Whitehead, both of Lebanon, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
