Albert L. Conte

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Vianney Church for Albert L. Conte, 82, of 167 Captain Thomas Blvd., who died Sept. 17. He was the husband of Marcina Gramelis Conte. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and operated Jim’s Corner Restaurant until 1965. He also served in the state House of Representatives from 1958 to 1962.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son. Albert L. Conte Jr. of West Haven; a brother, Warren Conte of West Haven; a sister, Betty Tracey of West Haven; and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by brothers John and Ernest “Stretch” Conte, and a sister, Kathryn Stark. Burial with full military honors was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The Keenan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille A. C. DeFrancesco

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Church for Lucille A. Conte DeFrancesco, 70, of 180 David St., who died Sept. 17. She was a child care provider.

She leaves sons Anthony DeFrancesco, Jr. of West Haven and Robert DeFrancesco of Oxford; a sister, Barbara Gambardella of New Haven; a brother, Charles Conte of Branford; and two grandchildren. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. the Iovanne Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles A. Williams

The Curvin K. Council Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Charles A. Williams, 70, of Tetlow St.,, who died Sept. 17. He was the husband of Elaine Williams. He was a truck driver for Atlas Moving and Storage.

Besides his wife, he leaves sons Charles L. and Michael T. Williams of West Haven, Todd T. Williams of NC, and Pete Williams of MD; daughters Beverly Peeples of West Haven and Dorothy Williams of MD; brothers Henry Phillip and Augustine Williams of Washington DC; a sister, Mary E. Scott of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Harry, Eugene and Louis Williams and sisters Doris and Veronica Williams and a grandchild. Burial was in Beaverdale Memorial Cemetery.

Ribelle J. Caroti

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Ribelle “Bill” Joseph Caroti, 93, of Treat Street, who died Sept. 18. He was the widower of Elvira DeMatiies Caroti. He was a retired machine operator for Geometric Tool Co.

He leaves a son, Robert Joseph Caroti of Orange; a brother, Lebert Caroti of New Have; sisters Foresta Viscio of North Haven and Nina Burgarella, in California; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Sally Maio and Mary Balestracci.

Sharon F. Miconi

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Sharon Faith Miconi, 32, of 79 Union Ave., who died Sept. 20. She was the daughter of Frank Miconi of West Haven and Patricia Fitzpatrick Purcell in Arizona. She was a sales associate at the Vanity Fair Outlet.

Besides her parents, she is survived by a son, Jason Honyotski of Cheshire; a sister, Melanie Miconi of West Haven; and brothers Robert Miconi of West Haven and Frank Miconi, Jr. of Seymour. Burial was private.

Raymond F. Pekari

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John Vianney Church for Raymond F. Pekari, 75, of 1 Campbell Ave., who died Sept. 20. Prior to his retirement, he owned Pekari’s Service Station in New Haven. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include sons Douglas C. Pekari of North Branford, Raymond “Skip” Pekari of FL, and Donald A. Pekari of West Haven; a sister, Gladys Pekari of FL; and three granddaughters. He was predeceased by a brother, William H. Pekari and a sister, Madeline Welch.

Elnora McCray

The Curvin K. Council Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Elnora McCray, 55, of Sawmill Road, who died Sept. 20. She was the wife of Timothy McCray.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepdaughter, Tameka Edwards of MD; a brother, Harlee Turner, Jr. of VA; a sister, Patricia Turner of Suffolk; and a grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Timothy McCray Jr. and a brother, Douglas Turner. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Sophie G. Zobriski 

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church for Sophie Gontarz Zobriski, 91, of 158 Church St., who died Sept. 11. She was the wife of Martin Zobriski. She was a retired employee of SNET and the New Haven Clock Co.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Kenneth C. Rudnicki of West Haven; a daughter, Catherine Carlson of Wallingford; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers Frank, Henry, Steve and Bennie Gontarz. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. The J. Markiewicz, & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mark D. Chrostek

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church for Mark D. Chrostek, 43, of 214 Washington Ave., who died Sept. 11. He was the husband of Maria Fekieta Chrostek. He formerly owned an electronics business.

Besides his wife, he leaves sisters Regina Cummins, Teresa and Alina Pienkos, and Grace Chrostek of New Haven. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. The Lupinski Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Salzo, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Church for James Salzo, Jr., of 64 Walnut St., who died Sept. 11. He was the husband of Jeanne Wishart Salzo and the son of James and Rose Pilletere Salzo of West Haven. He was a manager at Sears Logistics Services and Stop & Shop of Milford. He also owned Jim’s Cleaning Services.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves daughters Jodi and Jacquelyn Salzo of West Haven, and a brother, David Salzo of West Haven.

Charlotte H. Agan

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Charlotte Heath Agan, 81, of 109 Seaview Ave., who died Sept. 9. She was the William Clyde Agan.

She leaves a daughter, Sally Guay of Windsor; a son, William E. Agan of West Haven and two grandchildren.

Steve M. Ruotolo

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Steve M. Ruotolo, 78, of 1187 Campbell Ave., who died Sept. 9. He was a retired salesman for Sherman Williams Co. He was a Marine veteran.

He leaves daughters Kristine Paradis of Orange and Susan Casey of Guilford; sons, Kenneth Ruotolo of Oxford, Steve Ruotolo of Branford, Andrew Ruotolo of Guilford and Mark and David Ruotolo of West Haven; brothers Anthony Ruotolo of Washington DC, Clement Ruotolo of Westbrook and Joseph Ruotolo of Middletown; a sister, Mary Amarante of Wallingford and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Margaret Amento and Rose Lentine and brothers John, Andrew and Nicholas Ruotolo. Interment was in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Joseph J. Baczek

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Joseph J. “Joe” Baczek, 74, of Grand St., who died Aug. 25. He was the widower of Evelyn Cassella Baczek. He was a retired driver and mechanic for the former Atlantic Richfield Co. He was a Navy veteran.

He leaves sons William Baczek of KY, and Joseph Thomas of Waterbury; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by brothers Edward, Frank and Zygmond Baczek and sisters Sophie Preneta and Helen Baczek.

Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rita O. Duffy

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Rita O’Dea Duffy, 84, of 243 Bellevue Ave., who died Aug. 27. She was the widow of Frank G. Duffy.

She leaves a daughter, Susanne M. Duffy of West Haven; and a son, Michael F. Duffy of Guilford. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice O’Dea Berry.

Jean L. Karthaus

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Jean L. Karthaus, of 420 Orange Ave., who died Aug. 29. She was the wife of Richard Karthaus, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Wheeler of Madison, Susan Dumolo of North Haven; and two granddaughters.

Ralph Slavatore

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church for Ralph Salvatore, 93, of 186 Fairfax St., who died Aug. 29. He was the husband of Jennie Grillo Salvatore. He worked for the city in the Public Works Department and also for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad, until his retirement in 1973.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Theresa Burch of CA., Rose Morgillo and Viola Sobczak of West Haven and Lillian Strilka of Orange; sons Pasquale and Ralph Salvatore, Jr. of West Haven and Carmen Salvatore of Las Vegas; brothers Giuseppe and Rocco Salvatore of West Haven and Ernesto Salvatore of Italy; 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters.

Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rose M. P. Iovene

The West Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Rose M. Perry Iovene, 88, of West Walk, who died Aug. 31. She was the widow of Anthony R. Iovene. She retired in 1971 from CHCP where she was a registrar for more than 20 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Iovene of New Haven; a son, Robert A. Iovene of Boca Raton, FL; a sister, Mary Ann Clark of Vero Beach, FL; three grandsons and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by sisters, Marge Homer and Elizabeth Blasczyk and brothers, Manuel, John, Joseph, Francis and Anthony Perry.

Hazel M. W. Conti

The Cody-White Funeral Home, Milford, was in charge of arrangements for Hazel May Willard Conti, 84, of Bayshore Drive, who died Aug. 30. She worked for the former Waterbury Lock Co. in Milford, until her retirement.

She is survived by a son, Andrew R. Conti, Sr. of Milford; a sister, Naomi Seneco of Watertown; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Church for Virginia Barnes Morse Hunley, 63, of 382 Elm St., who died Aug. 30. She was the wife of William R. Hunley.

Besides her husband, she is survived by sons, Kevin Morse of West Haven and Alan Morse of ME; daughters Robin Pesapane and Virginia Morse of West Haven; Valerie Morse of Danforth and Barbara Morse of Enfield, ME; stepsons Charles and Michael Hunley of New Haven; sisters Beverly Caciapoli of Branford, Nancy Stackpole of Westbrook, Elizabeth Hurley of North Branford, Maureen Erickson of West Haven and Patricia Stackpole of Branford; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Morse and brothers Joseph, Charles and Robert Barnes.

Rozalia M. B. Vasmatics

The Iovanne Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Rozalia Maria Barabas Vasmatics, 77, of 1140 Capt. Thomas Blvd., who died Aug. 31. She was the widow of Boldizsar Vasmatics. She worked for Showcase Cinemas of Orange.

She leaves daughters Judit Paolini of Naugatuck, Rozaliz Tuttle and Katalin Buffington of St. Cloud, FL, and Merminia Mazeiko of New Haven; sons Michael Vasmatics of Killingworth and Miklos Vasmatics of North Haven; brothers Louis Barabas of Fairfield and Frank Barabas of East Haven; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a sister, Zsuzsanna Konrad, and brothers Sandor and Jozsef Barabas. Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Stephen P. Butka

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory for Stephen P. Butka, 43, of Harding Avenue, who died Aug. 30. He was the husband of Lorraine “Lorrie” Burka, and son of Loretta Dula Butka, of Milford and the late Daniel Z. Butka. He was a laser operator for Chapin & Bangs of Bridgeport.

Besides his wife and mother, he leaves a son, Stephen M. Butka of West Haven; a brother, Michael D. Butka of Derry NH, and a sister, Danielle M. DellaGioia of Stratford. Burial was in Kings Highway Cemetery. The Cody-White Funeral Home, Milford, was in charge of arrangements.

Susan A. McInnis

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Susan A. McInnis, 39, of 22 Morgan Lane, who died Aug. 18. She was the daughter for Florence Foley McInnis of West Haven and the late Robert G. McInnis. She was head teacher for the West Haven Community House Before- and After-School program at Washington Elementary School.

Besides her mother, she leaves brothers Robert G. McInnis of Milford, James R. McInnis of CA, and Richard A. McInnis of Orange.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church for Joseph Pacelli, 85, of 79 Warner Ave., who died Sept. 6. He was the widower of Rose Tomaso Pacelli. He worked for Ives Ornamental Plaster and in the construction industry until retiring.

He leaves sons Andrew and Ascanio “Scott” Pacelli both of West Haven, and Joseph Pacelli of North Branford; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Pacelli; sisters Sue Santanello, Lena Castellano and Jennie Centi Santanello; and brothers Frank and Mario Pacelli.
