LEE MORRIS LYON 
Mr. Lyon, 82, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 9, 2000, in Ojai, Calif., as a result of metastasized breast cancer. He was a real estate appraiser. He was an Army officer (Army Air Corps, Ordnance Corps, General Staff) and served as lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves for six years of active duty and 30 years of reserve duty. 
Mr. Lyon was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo. He was married Dec. 26, 1945, to Bernice Templeton, who is deceased. He was then married Jan. 27, 1992, to Shirley Katz. 
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lucy Lyon Yuan; two stepdaughters, Lynn Ostrick and Diane Cherniss; a granddaughter, Jada Yuan; and four stepgrandsons.

ERNEST W. "RUSTY" CLARKE II 
Mr. Clarke, 36, a Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 17, 2000, in Decatur, Ill., after an illness. He was a long-distance truck driver. 
Mr. Clarke was born May 19, 1964, at the Air Force Academy to Edward F. Clarke and Renee Lynne Brown. 
He is survived by his fianceé, Paula Wilton; his father; his mother; a sister, Kathy Mason Maechtle; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Clarke; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Wilson. 
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cheyenne Cañon Inn, 2030 W. Cheyenne Blvd.

WENDELL D. McELVAIN 
Mr. McElvain, 79, died Dec. 19, 2000, at a local hospital. He was a retired farmer and rancher. 
Mr. McElvain was born July 29, 1921, in Hays, Kan., to Grover C. and Iona M. (Scott) McElvain, who are deceased. 
He is survived by a brother, Grover J., of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Ada Morris, of Lakewood; and two sisters-in-law, Helen of Loomis, Calif. and Violet of Ramah.

DONALD PHILLIP "DON" ESAREY 
Mr. Esarey, 87, a former Simla resident, died Dec. 11, 2000, at a Pueblo care center. He retired from building terraces for soil conservation and was a lay pastor. 
Mr. Esarey was born March 19, 1913, in Branchville, Ind., to John W. and Emma (Neal) Esarey, who are deceased. He was married to Alvina "Al" Becker. 
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dallis Duane of Yoder and Kenneth Dale of Fort Collins; a daughter, Katherine DeAnn Drotar of Pueblo; a brother, Dale; two sisters, Dora Esarey and Dessie Simpson; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis Joan and Dora Kay.

ORVILLE H. PATRICK 
Mr. Patrick, 83, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 15, 2000, in Phoenix. He retired from the Army after 22 years of service. 
Mr. Patrick was born June 30, 1917, in Trinity County, Texas, to John Dublin and Anne Jewel Roberts Patrick, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 3, 1942, to Pauline Ester Philips. 
He is survived by his wife; a son, John of Phoenix; four daughters, Pat Stamper of Missouri, Maryan Baskin of California, Jean Roblewsky and Linda Gilbert. both of Colorado Springs; a brother, Marcus H. of Texas; a sister, Estelle Reynolds of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., staging area A, Denver.

CHARLES CURRY 
Mr. Curry, 80, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He was an accountant with the Colorado Interstate Gas Co. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Southwest Pacific from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. 
Mr. Curry was born July 1, 1920, in Sturgeon, Mo., to Tisdale Edward and Marjorie (Heald) Curry, who are deceased. He was married Aug. 17, 1946, to Barbara H. Harper. 
He is survived by his wife; a son, Steve; a daughter, Jan Wade; a sister, Helen Gravatt, of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

LESLIE ANN EARLE 
Mrs. Earle, 47, died Dec. 19, 2000, at a local care center. She was a homemaker. 
Mrs. Earle was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Baltimore to Sara Brooks and Sidney Weise. Her father is deceased. She was married Sept. 8, 1979, to Dave Earle. 
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Melissa and Emily; her mother; and a brother, Michael Weise.

LOUISE R. BATTEN 
Mrs. Batten, 88, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker and worked at Dravo Manor Motel. 
Mrs. Batten was born April 9, 1912, in Chicago to Anthony and Rosina (Nunziato) Esposito, who are deceased. She was married Nov. 16, 1940, to Walter A. Batten, who is deceased. 
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Swanson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley McLaughlin. Shirley died in May 1968.

ALMA MAE WOODRUFF LA MAR 
Mrs. La Mar, 88, died Dec. 18, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a retired bookkeeper. 
Mrs. La Mar was born Oct. 20, 1912, in Chicago to Guy and Almyra Woodruff, who are deceased. She was married June 27, 1929, to Russell W. La Mar, who is deceased. 
She is survived by a daughter, Myra Depp; two granddaughters, Linda and Deborah; three great-granddaughters, Nichole, Jessica and Sarah; and a great-great-granddaughter, Zara. 
Inurnment will be at a later date. 

NAOMI "BEA" HOUGHTON 
Mrs. Houghton, 79, died Dec. 20, 2000, at a local hospital. She worked in day care for more than 40 years. 
Mrs. Houghton was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Bell City, Mo., to Thomas and Mary Melinda Hill, who are deceased. She was married in 1960 to Art Houghton, who is deceased. 
She is survived by three sons, David Lucas, Jerry Lucas and Ken Lucas; two brothers, W.C. Hill and W.D. Proctor; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucinda Mae Clack; four brothers; and a sister, Gladys Proctor.

BERTRAND RAYMOND TROTTIER 
Mr. Trottier, 87, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He was a retired building contractor in southern California. 
Mr. Trottier was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Worcester, Mass., to Joseph A. and Clorinth (Devereau) Trottier, who are deceased. He was married to Rebecca Richardson, who is deceased. 
He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Partain.

ROZELLA (JACKSON) KUNTZ 
Mrs. Kuntz, 68, died Dec. 20, 2000, at a local hospital. She worked as a teller at Mountain Bell Phone Co. for 29 years. 
Mrs. Kuntz was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Eckley to Robert Franklin Jackson and Alice Cora Gilbert, who are deceased. She was married Dec. 9, 1952, to George W. Kuntz. 
She is survived by her husband; a son, Monte; a daughter, Marsha Dunkin; three sisters, Doralea Sauer, Sharlotte Smith and Francis Williams; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Jr., Jim and Jake; and three sisters, Violet, Geneva and Victoria.

CAROLYN ANN "LYN" AKERS 
Ms. Akers, 54, died Dec. 21, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was operations director for KRCC Radio in Colorado Springs for more than 16 years. 
Ms. Akers was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Lawton, Okla. to Robert B. and Helen (Johnson) Holland, who are deceased. 
She is survived by two daughters, Chelsea Dawn Akers and Nova Jackalyn Walker; and a brother, Robert D. Holland.

THOMAS J. HURLEY, M.D. 
Dr. Hurley, 78, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He operated a psychiatric practice in Colorado Springs for 46 years and was an M.D. for 51 years. He also served in the Army for seven years, attaining the rank of captain. 
Dr. Hurley was born July 28, 1922, in Minneapolis to Jeremiah Patrick Hurley and Louise (Daskowski) Crew, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 29, 1943 to Etta Lorraine (Emery) Hurley. 
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Thomas Jeremiah Hurley, Jr. and Dr. George William Hurley; three daughters, Pamela Lee Hurley, Deborah Ann Heitman and Linda Sue Boggs; a sister, Mary Hayes; and seven grandchildren.

GORDON P. LOVELL JR. 
Mr. Lovell, 63, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Colorado Springs of leukemia. He was a retired financial consultant for A.G. Edwards. He also volunteered in the district attorney's office. 
Mr. Lovell was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Syracuse, N.Y. to Gordon Peck and Mary L. (Groman) Lovell. His father is deceased. He was married in 1971 to Raenette "Rennie" Nold. 
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Peter, Jeffrey, David, Roger and Bradley; his mother; a sister, Sally Brainard; and four grandsons.

Andrew, infant son of Quentin and Jessica (Waity) Lager, died Dec. 21, 2000, in Colorado Springs.

FLOYD L. COX 
Mr. Cox, 88, died Dec. 22, 2000, at a local care center. He was an accountant at the Air Force Finance Center. He also served in the Army as a warrant officer. 
Mr. Cox was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Jonesboro, Ark. to William Rufus and Myrtle (Suite) Cox, who are deceased.  
He was married in 1977 to Edeltraud Mason, who is deceased. 
He is survived by a step-daughter, Carolyn Bangs; four brothers, Franklin, Lloyd, Donald and Charles; a sister, Dorothy Smith; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Pauline Smith.

JOHN A. SEAY 
Mr. Seay, 53, died Dec. 17, 2000, at his home in Peyton. He served as a firefighter in Security and at Fort Carson for more than 20 years. He also served in the armed forces for 16 years. 
Mr. Seay was born July 14, 1947, in Baltimore, to Leslie A. and Georgia L. (Ingoe) Seay, who are deceased. He was married to Ruth A. Baumes Oct. 21, 1967. 
He is survived by his wife; a son, John A. Seay, Jr.; a daughter, Gwyn A.; two brothers, James and Billie; his step-father, Harry W. Mills; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark A.

Glenda was born July 1, 1931, in Berthoud, to Glen and Myrtle (Warren) Chapman, who are deceased. She was married to Paul Beach, who is deceased. 
She is survived by a son, Brant M. Florea; a daughter, Bernadette Florea; a brother, Darryl Chapman; a sister, Wilda Bramlett; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Ware.

Mr. Mertgen, 85, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 19, 2000, in Aurora. He was employed as a salesperson at Phil Long Ford. 
Mr. Mertgen was born Sept. 6, 1915, in Florence, Mo. to William J. and Sophia Freida (Durel) Mertgen, who are deceased. He was married Sept. 29, 1941, to V. Jayne Crockett, who is deceased. 
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Santen and Rebecca Rill; and two grandchildren.

ARNOLD MATTHEW McCRYSTAL 
Mr. McCrystal, 72, died Dec. 20, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He owned and operated an auto body shop. He also served in the Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant.  
Mr. McCrystal was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Mercer County, Ky. to Matthew and Kathleen McCrystal, who are deceased. He was married Nov. 3, 1950 to Barbara Jean (King) McCrystal, who is deceased. 
He is survived by five sons, Steven, Ronald, Larry, Michael and Jeffrey; two daughters, Karen Ahrens and Sandra Huesing; two brothers, Bernard and Bill; two sisters, Doris and Rebecca; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margarite.

Mrs. Redden, 69, died Dec. 20, 2000, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker. 
Mrs. Redden was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Texas, to Dolphus and Lizzie (Hollins) Moore, who are deceased. She was married Dec. 1952, in Colorado Springs to George Redden. 
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Gregory, Reggie and Ernest; six daughters, Cheryl Madden, Sonja McDonald, Dreka Gray, Frances West, Tara Foster and Michelle Redden; two sisters, Dolly Mc- Broom and Lizzie Helen Dorsey; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Brenden; a grandson, Akeem Gray; and a brother, King Moore, Sr.

Mr. Aragon, 69, died Dec. 22, 2000, in Colorado Springs. He served in the Army.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael; a daughter, Michele Young; two brothers, John and Daniel; two sisters, Nellie and Marylou; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
