GLEA F. SMISCHNY, 88, a homemaker, died Oct. 21, 1997, at a local hospital.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, with the funeral at 11 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Garden of Angels Mausoleum. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception Center, 975 S. Union Blvd.
Mrs. Smischny was born March 11, 1909, in Atwood, Kan., to John Iva and Ada Almeda (Stark) Huffman.
She was married July 8, 1928, in Ellis, Kan., to Raymond L. Smischny, who died in 1976.
She is survived by two sons, Dean of Littleton and Cecil of Green Mountain Falls; a brother, Dale Huffman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Eliene Hummel of North Hollywood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smischny was a member of the Church in the Wildwood and a former member of the Lioness Club.
She had lived in the area since 1945.

LENA (DOLL) ARAGON, 86, a homemaker, died Oct. 22, 1997, at a local care center.

Mrs. Aragon was born Oct. 22, 1911, in Las Vegas, N.M., to Charles and Pauline (Benevidez) Doll.
She was married Sept. 5, 1937, in Colorado Springs to Zoilo Aragon, who died in 1981.
She is survived by a son, J.B. of Colorado Springs; six daughters, Charlotte Trippodo of Addison, Ill., Pauline Higgins of Longmont, Marie of Chicago, Victoria Boswell and MaryAnn, both of Colorado Springs, and Christine Ozaki of San Francisco; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Philip; and two sisters, Julia and Sarah.
Mrs. Aragon was a member of the altar and rosary societies and Legion of Mary at St. Mary's Cathedral, and Third Order of St. Frances Ladies Guild. She was a eucharistic minister at St. Joseph's.
She worked with the shut-in and visitation groups at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Mrs. Aragon had lived in Colorado Springs since 1930, previously living in Trinidad.

LORA E. DALTON
LORA E. DALTON, 77, died Oct. 21, 1997, in Colorado Springs. She taught at District 20 Air Academy Junior High School, retiring in 1984.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Ave. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Dalton was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Quincy, Ill., to George M. and Velma (Ferguson) Miller.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carole M. and Peter B. Hintz of Fenton, Mich.; and two granddaughters.
Mrs. Dalton earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Colorado.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and the Women's Educational Society.
She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1952, previously living in Canon City.

CAROLYN M. DEAN
CAROLYN M. DEAN, 85, died Oct. 22, 1997, at a local hospital. She was a bookkeeper for Whitney Electric and Baker Realty.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral, 22 W. Kiowa St. Burial will be at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Nolan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Ms. Dean was born April 1, 1912, in Colorado Springs to George C. and Carolyn Marie (Fell) Dean.
She is survived by a brother, John W. of Manitou Springs; and two sisters, Alice Steppler of Colorado Springs and Rose Drinnon of Bristol, Conn. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and George; and two sisters, Madelyn Heaton and Katherine Thompson.
Ms. Dean graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School and Blair Business College.
She was a former member of St. Paul's Guild and volunteered at St. Francis Hospital. She crocheted caps for the children of Nepal and rosaries for missions.
Ms. Dean was a lifelong area resident.

MARY ANN KING
MARY ANN KING, 84, died Oct. 22, 1997, at a local care center. She was a secretary for Banning Lewis Ranches.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road.
Mrs. King was born Nov. 6, 1912, in Saginaw, Mich., to William and Anna (Rombach) Willing.
She was married June 15, 1937, in Flint, Mich., to George Edward King, who died in 1971.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. of Byers and Donald G. of Meridian, Miss.; two daughters, Anna Elizabeth of Pueblo and Jean Marie Turano of Wantagh, N.Y.; a sister, Bernice Skolnick of Dearborn, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Willing and William Willing Jr.
Mrs. King had lived in Colorado Springs since 1954.

ANITA BRUNHILDE LACKS
ANITA BRUNHILDE LACKS, 67, a homemaker, died Oct. 22, 1997, at her home in Colorado Springs.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.
Mrs. Lacks was born July 18, 1930, in Illeben, Germany, to Irmgard Hoyer.
She was married in Germany to Jack Calvin Lacks, who died in 1970.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Calvin of Colorado Springs and Mike S. of Denver; two daughters, Virginia Christine Valocchi of Denver and Nancy Jane of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Christa Kaditz and Margaret Graf, both of Germany; her companion, William Simpson of Colorado Springs; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann.
Mrs. Lacks was a excellent cook, an avid Bronco fan, and assisted people in need during World War II in Germany.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends, and by her children, especially Nancy, her caregiver until the end.
She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1970, previously living in Lawton, Okla.

REINHART "REINY" WACKER
REINHART "REINY" WACKER, 84, died Jan. 20, 1998, in Colorado Springs. He was a transportation manager for Thacker Brothers of Colorado Springs for more than 20 years.
Mr. Wacker was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Loveland. He was married Feb. 6, 1940, to Alta Meintzer.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Mark; two daughters, Jacquelyn and Robbyn; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, 390-4906, in Fountain. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Security Church of the Nazarene, 800 Hackberry Drive in Security. Private burial is planned.

ROBERT HAMPTON GIBBS
ROBERT HAMPTON GIBBS, 79, died Jan. 20, 1998, at a local care center. He was a boilermaker for the city of Colorado Springs Power Plant.
Mr. Gibbs was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Blackwell, Okla. He was married Nov. 23, 1941, to Pearl N. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert N.; two daughters, Judith Martin and Janice Peneschi; two brothers, Patrick and Cleo; two sisters, Claudia Johnson and Kathryn Seminek; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

HELEN U. HAAS, 87, a homemaker, died Jan. 20, 1998, in Colorado Springs after a short illness.
Mrs. Haas was born June 27, 1910, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was married May 7, 1938, to Theodore V. Haas, who is deceased.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Lazechko and Carol Rowton; a sister, Eleanor Mentz; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

PERRY E. FREEMAN
PERRY E. FREEMAN, 70, a Calhan resident from 1927 to 1992, died Jan. 20, 1998, in Springfield, Mo. He was a rancher.
Mr. Freeman was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Calhan. He was married to Ida Nell McCune, who is deceased. He was then married to Hazel.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Russell, Philip and Gerard; three daughters, Molly Loup, Twila Layne and Sherry Freeman; two brothers, Albert and Wayne; two sisters, Doris McAdoo and Lillian Barnes; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church in Calhan. 

NINA L. COLLARD
NINA L. COLLARD, 73, died Jan. 18, 1998, at a local care center. She was a retired escrow officer.
Mrs. Collard was born March 15, 1924, in Ravia, Okla. She was married in 1969 to Bruce Collard, who is deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Livingston; two sisters, Joyce Wilson and Ruth Moore; and two grandchildren.

BUDDY RAYMOND PRICE, 64, a Colorado Springs resident from 1950 to 1993, died Jan. 16, 1998, in Las Vegas. He owned Sheley Shoe Repair and Holiday Travel.
Mr. Price was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Sturgis, S.D.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie; two sons, David and Russell; a daughter, Jeannie Swanson; a stepson, Scott Schmidt; a stepdaughter, Melanie Schmidt; his mother, Agnes Price-Paulsen; two brothers, Billy and Jerry; a sister, Donna Price-Nelson; and six grandchildren.

EVANGELINE ELIZABETH JAMES, 64, died Jan. 17, 1998, in Colorado Springs. She was a nurse.
Mrs. James was born May 6, 1933, in Raleigh, N.C.
She is survived by a son, Terrell; and two grandchildren.

LAWSON EUGENE "GENE" NOBLE, 89, died Jan. 17, 1998, in Lake George. He was a farmer and rancher.
Mr. Noble was born Aug. 28, 1908, in Joplin, Mo.
He is survived by two sons, Dan and David; a daughter, Bonnie Noble Brown; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

YVONNE P. BERRY, 69, died Nov. 29, 1998, at a local hospital. She was retired from the Social Security Administration.
Mrs. Berry was born June 8, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio. She was married June 10, 1953, to Paul D. Berry.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Laurel Holey and Frances Haynes; a sister, Ida Tuckerman; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

JOHN D. CHANDLER, 54, died Nov. 28, 1998 in Fountain. He was a tool and die maker for 15 years for Dresser Oil Tools.
Mr. Chandler was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Trinidad. He was married Nov. 21, 1973, to Lavern Baker.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, Kenneth; and two sisters, Maryann Vicellio and Karen Toman.

WILLARD "KEITH" GREENE, 43, died Nov. 26, 1998, in Colorado Springs. He was an auto body repairman and heavy equipment operator.
Mr. Greene was born May 31, 1955, in Ogallala, Neb. He was married Sept. 18, 1982, to Bernice Clark.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Willard and Marilyn (Cahow) Greene; a brother, Colen; a sister, Audrey Vogl; and his grandmother, Bernice Greene.

RUSSELL A. "RUSS" HENNINGER,81, died Nov. 28, 1998, at his home in Colorado Springs. He retired from the Air Force as a pilot and major after 20 years of service.
Mr. Henninger was born April 27, 1917, in St. Louis. He was married May 6, 1943, to Mary Ola Henderson, who is deceased.
He is survived by two sons, Russell A. Jr. and Steven C.; a sister, Verna Ray; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

MICHAEL LEON HITCHCOCK, 54, died Nov. 28, 1998, in Colorado Springs. He was owner/operator of Hitchcock Welding and Fabricating.
Mr. Hitchcock was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Boulder. He was married to Elizabeth Snow.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Colby Snow and Ryan; two daughters, Marni Snow and Rochelle; his father, Dale Hitchcock; and three sisters, Linda Breedlove, Dale Sewald and Kathy.

ALFRED "AL" L. IRELAN, 72, died Nov. 27, 1998, in Colorado Springs. He was an an autobody repairman, over-the-road driver, a logger, served in the Navy during World War II and he served in the Army during the Korean War and was a prisoner of war for three years.
Mr. Irelan was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Chelan, Wash.
He is survived by a daughter, Michele (Irelan) Kurvink; a brother, Kearn; three sisters, Bernice Beckman, Maxine Macy and Gladys Canterbury; and three grandchildren.

JULIANA OLIVA JACILDONE, 96, died Nov. 29, 1998, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jacildone was born Aug. 13, 1902, in Balaoan, La Union, Philippines. She was married in 1916 to Fabian Jacildone, who is deceased.
She is survived by four daughters, Catalina Narcelles, Terry Pettit, Guadalupe Guinto and Cornelia Bulanadi; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Mr. King was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Amity, Ark. He was married April 21, 1945, to Irene P. Randall, who is deceased.
He is survived by two sons, Roy W. and Donald E.; three daughters, Alice J. Heinold, Catherine T. Griese and Elaine M. Burkart; two brothers, Fletcher E. and Charles W.; a sister, Clara Farrell; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

VERDENE STELLA LaFALIER, 85, died Nov. 29, 1998, in Colorado Springs. She was a dietician.
Mrs. LaFalier was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Wayne, Neb. She was married in 1935 to Theodore LaFalier, who is deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Tedra Becker; a sister, Wilburna Munion; a grandson; and two great-grandsons.

NORMAN LARSEN, 72, died Nov. 7, 1998, in Colorado Springs. He was a golf pro retired from The Broadmoor Golf Club and served in the Air Force for three years.

He is survived by a son, Norman Ernest; four brothers, Tommy Warhurst, Bjarne, Grant and Arne; and two grandchildren.
