Graveside services for William Edward Argo

DOWNEY-Graveside services were held May 10 at Park Lawn Cemetery in Commerce for William Edward Argo, a Downey resident for 35 years, who died May 4 at the Torrance Memorial Burn Center.

He was 73, born Feb. 18, 1926 in Ocala, Florida.

Survivors include his brother, Henry Argo; eight children, Judy Argo, Mike Argo, Robert Argo, Rick Tiffin, Ron Russell, Diane Tiffin, Randy Tiffin, and Robbie Tiffin; 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, beside whom he was buried.

Javier Eulalio Sanchez, upholsterer, mourned

DOWNEY-A Mass was heard Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Javier Eulalio Sanchez, a longtime Los Angeles resident and upholsterer in the furniture manufacturing business for more than 30 years.

He lived in Downey for the past two years and died at his home May 9.

He was 59, born in Mexico.

Survivors include his wife, Eustolia Sanchez; his son, Alfonso Ruiz (Eraina); daughters Graciela Rivera (Faustino), Sonia Ruiz (Ruben Rivera); brothers Rafael Sanchez, Moises Sanchez; sisters Elisa Sanchez and Lidovina Chafaros; and eight grandchildren.

Entombment followed at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.

Services to be today for Edward F. Shepherd at 81

DOWNEY-Services will be held today (Friday, May 14) at 1 p.m., at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel for Edward F. Shepherd, a former employee of South Gate Electric and a South Gate resident.

He was 81, born in Massachusetts, and died May 10 in Lynwood.

He was a member of the Downey United Lodge 220, Royal Arch 157, the BPOE Elks 2003 of Bellflower, the Fleet Reserve, VFW, and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Shepherd.

Downey United Lodge 220 will officiate. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
