He was 78, born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Aug. 5, 1918, and was a former resident of South Gate.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knute Rockne Council 3697 Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in World War II and was a forward artillery observer, directing fire and observing shell bursts, adjusting fire to fall on enemy targets. He suffered many wounds including the loss of his right leg.
He worked 43 years for Norris Industries and was corporation vice president of industrial relations.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Downey; his son, Michael of Downey; daughters Mary McCullough of Newport Beach, Ellen Driess of West Hills, Beatrice Cain of Orange; and eight grandchildren.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
He was 67, born in Brooks, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Shewman; sons Clifford Shewman, Les Lindo of Fontana; a daughter, Paulette Sederavicius of Nebraska; brothers Carl, Richard and Sy Shewman; sister Kate; grandchild Christopher Shewman, and six other grandchildren.
Burial was at All Souls in Long Beach. Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
