He was born July 6, 1921, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and died May 22 in the V.A. Hospital in Long Beach. He was a former resident of El Centro, and retired from the Air Force after 24 years as a C.W.O.-3. His service commendations included the Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Master Parachutist Award. He was a member of the Retired Military Officers Association, Military Officers of World Wars, the Air Force Association, D.A.V., S.A.F.E Association, Downey Board of Realtors, and was a California State Safety Engineer after retiring from the military in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara W. Rosenberg of Downey; his daughters, Diana Cook of Upland, Janet Fitzgerald of San Clemente, Pamela Cipra of Long Beach; and five grandchildren.
Rabbi Sidney S. Guthman officiated.
Burial followed at the Riverside National Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
She was 76, born in Tooele, Utah, Feb. 5, 1921, was a former resident of Los Angeles, and was preceded in death by her husband, George Gillespie, who died in 1992.
Survivors include her brother, Louis Ambrose of Downey; sisters Frances Vidmar of Santa Barbara, Anne Hansen and Josephine Erichson of Tooele, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
