Dr. Kenneth Kullbom mourned by many here

DOWNEY-Funeral services for Dr. Kenneth Kullbom, M.D., a longtime Downey resident, were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Messiah Lutheran Church of Downey.

He was born Dec. 15, 1909, and died Nov. 22, 1996.

He was a graduate of Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA, and also a graduate of South Western University of Law in Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Medical Corps in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Downey; a son, Steven of Oakdale; daughters Betty (Lyle) MacKenzie of Bellflower, Patricia (Robert) Bolen of Huntington Beach, Judy (David) Valasquez of Mission Viejo; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Burial followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice Inter-Health of Whittier (698-8572). Arrangements were by White's Funeral Home of Bellflower.

Funeral Mass celebrated for Frances F. Borucki

CUDAHY-A Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Frances F. Borucki, a longtime resident of Cudahy, who died Nov. 21 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach.

She was 72, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, who died in 1992.

She worked as an office secretary for 12 years for the American Legion.

Survivors include sisters Mary F. Kalanta and Evelyn F. Hester of Ossining, N.Y., and Constance F. Catalina of Bethen, Connecticut.

Rev. Fr. John Moloney, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in Los Angeles National Cemetery, and was officiated by the American Legion detail. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.

Services set Saturday for Effie B. Carlson

DOWNEY-Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel in Downey for Effie B. Carlson, a resident of Downey for 50 years, who died at Rio Hondo Hospital Nov. 21.

A native of Duluth, Minnesota, she was 87, and the widow of Ruben Carlson.

Survivors include nieces Nathalie Barrick and Sara Moren; nephews Earl Moren and Jeff Barrick.

Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
