Former Downey resident Eva Viola McKeague

DOWNEY-Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 14, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, for Eva Viola McKeague, a former Downey resident who died April 8 at the Alamitos West Convalescent Hospital in Los Alamitos.

She was age 80, and was a resident of Leisure World in Seal Beach.

She was a former employee of the J.C. Penney Co., as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include her daughter, Patty Tossey and son-in-law Randy Tossey of Huntington Beach; a brother, Wallace Easton of Hollywood; and grandchildren Nicholas, Megan and Jarrett Tossey of Huntington Beach.

A memorial service was held at Leisure World Community Church April 14. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.


Services today for Neva Helena Akloff

DOWNEY-Services will be held today (Friday, April 16) at 9 a.m. at the Rose Hills Memorial Chapel in Whittier for Neva Helena Akloff, a Downey resident since 1957.

She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathoic Church.

Survivors include two children, Alexander Akloff Jr., and daughter Teresa and her husband Daniel Hamilton; and a sister, Sylvia Bernat.

Arrangements are by Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.


Friends, family mourn Nick F. Antista at 84

DOWNEY-A Funeral Mass was held at the Calvary Cemetery's Mausoleum Chapel for Nick F. Antista, who died April 6 at his home in Downey.

He was age 84, born May 8, 1914 in Colorado, and was a former employee in the motion picture industry as a property person for 35 years with Warner Brothers Studios.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II.

Survivors include his brother, Joseph A. Antista; nephew Gary Antista; niece Jolene Colins; and niece Betty Cantrano.

The Rev. Father Henry Gomez of St. Gertrude Catholic Church officiated. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.


Sylvia Theresa Nadsady remembered by many

DOWNEY-Private cryptside services were held at the Mausoleum of All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Long Beach for Sylvia Theresa Nadsady, a longtimer homemaker and a Downey resident since 1961, who died April 9 in Downey Community Hospital.

She was age 75, born in Flint, Michigan, and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence "Larry" Nadsady; her daughter, Vicki Nadsady of Santa Monica; sisters Bess Cmerjrek of Fenton, Michigan, Toni Smeage of Saginaw, Michigan, and Vlasti Kucera of Riverside.

Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
