Muriel E. Holderness mourned by many at 88

DOWNEY-A Funeral Mass was heard Tuesday, April 14, at St. Dominic Savio Catholic Church, for Muriel Elaine Holderness, a homemaker and Downey resident for more than 50 years, who died at Bay Convalescent Hospital April 9.

She was 88, born in Omaha, Nebraska, and was preceded in death by her husband, Doral, in 1981.

Survivors include her brother, Frank Dailey, M.D., of Bishop; grandsons Richard Gilbert of Santa Cruz, Gregory Gilbert of Red Bluff, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.

Memorial services for Robert Henry Gudgeon

DOWNEY-Memorial services were held Saturday, April 11, at the Cerritos Valley Baptist Church for Robert Henry Gudgeon, a Downey resident for 36 years, who died at Norwalk Meadows Nursing Center April 9.

He was 93, born Nov. 24, 1904, in England, and formerly lived in Los Angeles.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; his daughters, Marcell Dorando of Montana, Kathleen Westgate of Apple Valley, Barbara St. Clair of Downey; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Scott Burns and Rev. Herbert Carson officiated. Private cremation and interment in Inglewood Park Cemetery followed. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
