Manuel H. Guerrero mourned at age of 82

DOWNEY-A Funeral Mass was heard Thursday, April 17, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Manuel H. Guerrero, a Downey resident for seven years and a former truck driver for the Commercial Lumber Co., for 30 years.

Born in Douglas, Arizona, he was 82, and a former resident of Los Angeles. He died at his home April 14.

Survivors include his wife, Lupe R. Guerrero; a daughter, Annie Juarez of Downey; a son, Manuel Guerrero, Jr., of Downey; a daughter, Ramona Martinez of Riverside; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

The Rev. John Maloney, Pastor, officiated. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Downey Zelak Family Mortuary.


Jack Barton is mourned at 74 by friends, family

BELL GARDENS-Funeral services were held April 14 at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel in Downey, for Jack Barton, a 39 year resident of Bell Gardens, who died April 9 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Los Angeles.

He was 74, born in Kentucky, and was self-employed.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Barton; six sons; two daughters; and 24 grandchildren.

Burial followed at Riverside National Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.


Friends, family mourn Feral L. Thomas at 63

LYNWOOD-Funeral services were held April 11 at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel in Downey for Feral L. Thomas, a resident of Lynwood for 45 years and a former employee of Calmat Co., in Glendale, who died April 7 at the Norris Cancer Center in Los Angeles.

Born in Compton, she was 63.

Burial was private.

Survivors included family and many friends.

Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
