He was 93, the son of immigrants from Italy, and died April 2 in Specialty Hospital in La Mirada. As a small child, he liked to visit the coal mines where his father worked in Springfield, Illinois. When the family moved to Fresno in 1920, he became a shoeshine boy, and got up early to deliver newspapers as well. He loved to work. His formal education ended in the 4th grade. He started his own business in 1941.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his son, David (the manager of Nick's New & Used Merchandise on Imperial Highway in Downey, and Nick's Antiques in South Gate); his daughter, Rosalie Peter of Wrightwood; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. John Smyser will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea.
Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
He was 56, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was an employee of Classic Press.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marta Elena Lopez; his son, Gabriel Gustavo-Lopez; and his daughter, Veronica Andrea Lopez.
Deacon Ralph Riera officiated. Burial will be in Argentina. Arrangements
are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
