He was 64, born April 30, 1934 in Norfolk, Nebraska and died Dec. 21 at his home in Nipomo, California.
He came to California in 1953, and lived in Downey from 1966 to 1984. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and Korea, and lived in Nipomo since 1984. He was a member of the Santa Maria Elks Lodge No. 1538. His hobbies included travel, water skiing, gardening, and his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lois L. Haase of Nipomo; his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Kalvin Packett of Nipomo; a sister, Patricia Zacker of Palm Springs; two grandchildren, Kyle and Cortney R. Packett of Nipomo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation was requested with private inurnment at Memory Gardens of the Dudley-Hoffman Columbarium. Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 766, Santa Maria, CA 93456.
She was 76, born Nov. 30, 1922 in Oklahoma, and died Dec. 12. Before her lengthy Downey residence, she lived in Livermore for 15 years. She was a volunteer for the Downey Community Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Downey Newcomers Club.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John McMahon of Los Osos; daughters Karin Reitz of Livermore, Kathleen Hanis of Lathrop; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements were by the Neptune Society.
