Rosary/vigil tonight for John W. (Jack) Lindsay

DOWNEY-A rosary/vigil service will be held today (Friday, Dec. 4) at 8 p.m. at our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for John W. (Jack) Lindsay, a resident of Downey for 49 years and the owner and proprietor of Lindsay Lumber Co., in Paramount for 60 years.

He was 80, born in Fargo, N.D., and died Nov. 27. He was a former resident of Paramount and served in the Navy in World War II. He was a graduate of USC's School of Engineering; a member of the Knute Rockne Council No. 3697 Knights of Columbus of Downey; a boardmember of the United Cerebral Palsy Association; and was a co-founder of Marian Homes, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Marie of Downey; his daughter, Anne L. Caruso of Portland, Oregon; his sons, Mark and Jim of San Diego, Vincent of Buena Park, and Jerry of Portland. Oregon; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be heard Saturday, Dec. 5, at 8:30 a.m. at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Marian Homes, Inc., 3424 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90010.


Charles Wayne Pope laid to rest at age 50

DOWNEY-A visitation was held Dec. 1 at Miller-Mies Mortuary in Downey for Charles Wayne Pope, a resident of La Habra Heights, who died Nov. 26.

He was 50, born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was a self-employed CPA and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; his mother, Joy Bodnar of Norwalk; his father, Charles Leland Pope of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a brother, Michael Pope of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sisters Janet and Pam; daughters Julia and Jennifer; and a godson, Timothy Wayne.

Services were held at Rose Hills Cemetery Dec. 2.


Albert Luis Gallardo mourned at age of 80

DOWNEY-Private services were held for Albert Luis Gallardo, a retired electrician for Rockwell International and a Downey resident for 48 years who died in Downey Community Hospital Nov. 28.

He was 80, born June 25, 1918 in Jerome, Arizona. He worked for Rockwell for 24 years, and was a member of U.A.W. Local 887, and the A.A.R.P. Chapter 262.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Francis (Fran) Gallardo of Downey; and a sister, Dora Gallardo of Jerome, Arizona.

Cremation services and disposition were private. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.


Ann May Consiglio mourned at age 87

DOWNEY-A Vigil Service will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary Chapel for Ann May Consiglio, a 40-year Downey resident, who died Nov. 30.

She was 87, born in Pennsylvania, and was a homemaker for 62 years, preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1976.

She was formerly of South Gate.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia King of Fountain Valley; her son, Thomas of Walnut; a sister, Elizabeth LaSala of Michigan; brothers Michael and Joseph of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be heard at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at St. Raymond's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.


Services set Monday for Peter J. Naddeo at 78

BELLFLOWER-Services for Peter J. Naddeo, a former employee of Lyon Metal Products and a resident of Bellflower, will be held at St. Raymond's Church at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7.

He was 78, born in Italy, and died at his home Nov. 30.

Survivors include his daughter, Adele Schilling of Downey; a son, Peter Naddeo Jr.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Father Steve Davoren will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the church, with a Rosary at 3 p.m.

Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
