DE JONY, Theodore N
Died March 17, 1999 at his home in Santa Maria. He was born September 26, 1913 in Falls Village, CT.
Mr de Jony graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as a mechanical engineer in 1936. He came to California in 1972 and has resided in Santa Barbara and Solvang.
He was active in community affairs including Santa Barbara's Forth of July parade, and the Lions Club serving on the board of both organizations.
He was a devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by his wife Betty de Jony of Santa Maria, his sons; Teddy de Jony, Jr and his wife Anne Marie of Coto De Caza, Bruce de Jony and his wife Sofia of Newbury Park and his 3 grandchildren; Theresa, Theodore Joseph, and Stephen.
A Memorial service was held Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Santa Maria, Pastor Carl Nielsen officiated. Interment followed at Santa Maria Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Solvang Lions Club or Trinity Lutheran Church at 909 La Cumbre, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. Dudley Hoffman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

FROELICHER, Francis M Jr
writer, reporter and columnist, age 80, died in his his home March 21, 1999, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Baltimore, MD in 1919. He attended Brown University at Boulder. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the army 1942-1945. He married Josie Doughtery, his wife of 53 years. He lived in Salinas, CA from 1948-1966, where he was a reporter and copy editor for the Californian. In 1966 he moved to Santa Barbara where he was employed by the News-Press. He retired in 1981 and resided in Santa Barbara the rest of his life.
Mr Froelicher was an avid tennis player and wrote a weekly column for the News-Press. His last column appeared in early 1999. He was also a historian, photographer and enthusiast of world politics. He interviewed and wrote about various dignitaries such as Richard Nixon, John F Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Francis is survived by his devoted wife Josie, his son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Kim Froelicher of Pismo Beach, his daughter and son-in-law Lucy and Tom Church of Salinas and his sister and brother-in-law, Fisher and Debbie Howe of Washington DC. He is survived by five grandsons; Dr Timothy Church of New Orleans, LA, Jeff and Brian Church of Salinas and Eric and Matthew Froelicher of Pismo Beach.
A Memorial Service will be held at Welch-Ryce-Haider Chapel in Goleta at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 24. Burial will follow at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.

LIEBENGOOD, Don M
who enjoyed successful careers in both veterinary Medicine and real estate investment, died March 17, 1999 in Santa Barbara. He was 80.
Liebengood resided for nearly a half-century in Santa Barbara, where he founded Liebengood Enterprises, a multi-million dollar real estate investment company. He is lovingly remembered as a proud, honorable and giving man.
He located in Santa Barbara in 1950 after selling his 10 year-old large and small animal veterinary medicine practice in Pontiac, Illinois. His initial real estate project was the development of a small commercial center located at the corner of Ontare Road and State Street. In subsequent years he bought and sold interests in office buildings, apartments, motels, hotels, mobile home parks, convenience stores, and farmland in various regions of the country. He is listed in both "Who's Who in American Finance & Industry" and "Who's Who in the World."
Liebengood was a throwback to another era. Working from a small office in his home, he amassed a sizeable fortune without conceding to modem technology. He never owned a typewriter, computer, copier, cell phone, fax machine or an answering machine. A pocket calculator was his only business accessory.
Kenneth Ziegler, who is both his business manager and close friend, says of Liebengood, "Don's perseverance and attention to detail, when combined with his adherence to high personal values is an excellent example of how someone can achieve the American dream. Our community and country are far better off because of his presence."
He was an active participant in Santa Barbara civic activities. He served as PTA President at Peabody Elementary School and San Marcos High School and was a former commissioner of the Santa Barbara City School Board. In 1984 he donated nearly half-a-million dollars in real estate to The Foundation for Santa Barbara City College.
Born in Ansonia, Ohio in 1918, he was raised in the small farm town of Kentland, Indiana, where he became a star multi-sport athlete in high school. He attended Purdue University, winning both scholastic and athletic honors, and later Kansas State University, where he received his DVM degree.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Jean, whom he met while attending Purdue, and two sons; Pete, a retired TV sportscaster and currently an author who lives in Redwood City, and Tom, an educator, songwriter and recording artist who has residences in both Los Angeles and Montecito.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30-am, Thursday March 25th at the Lighthouse Church of Religious Science, 487 N Turnpike Road in Santa Barbara.

PALUMBO, Gerald Michael
Jerry passed away at his home on March 11, 1999. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 28, 1949. The eldest of six children born to Anna and the late Michael Palumbo. He graduated from Swamscott High School in 1967.
Jerry moved to California in 1978. He worked as a masonry tender for Callahan Masonry on and off for 21 years and was a master at his trade. He had a passion for the blues harmonica and a deep love and appreciation of music. He cared for many people and expressed his love by being there to help anyone who needed him. He was a loving and fearless protector and a loyal and supportive friend. Jerry worked hard and played hard and could make up tasteless jokes on command and often did. He fought many battles in (and out of) the ring in his days of amateur boxing. He was well-read and spiritual - a compassionate yet hard-shelled man. He was an excellent listener. His animated conversations were punctuated by his constant hand gestures. He is, at last, reunited with his Dad, his brother Bobby, and his friends Del and Lucas. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend and we will all miss him very much.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Anna Palumbo, his sister Laurene Perkins, Christine "Sudi" Jacobs, and Nancy Pickard, and his brother Larry Palumbo and many aunts, uncles, cousins in Massachusetts, his daughter Jessica MacKenzie Palumbo of Colorado and his son Joseph Palumbo of California.
A Memorial Service will be held for Jerry at Newhouse III located at 2434 Bath St on Saturday, March 27th at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's name may be made to Newhouse III.

PATRICK, Tery Delys
Dec 21, l963-Mar 3, 1999
after battling a long illness, passed away on March 3, 1999. From early childhood she embraced all God's creatures; and during her 36 years of life she became involved with SPCA, the Humane Society, and local Tucson veterinarians.
Tery is survived by her beloved partner, Steve Clark of Arizona, mother, Donna Cooksey of Santa Maria; father, Edward
C Patrick of Lompoc; brother, Denis Patrick and nephews Dustin and Dylan Patrick of Arizona; maternal grandparents Ruby and Erwin DeLuche of New Mexico, and paternal grandparent Jessie Patrick of Tennessee.

SEGURA, Manuel
of Santa maria died March 20, 1999 at a local hospital of natural causes. Mr Segura was born November, 19, 1939 in Pintada, Mexico.
Manuel worked as a welder for Raytheon Co in Santa Barbara for 25 years.
Manuel was a member of the Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta, CA. He was an avid horseman. He studied the Indian culture and believe their doctrines. He loved to dance and sing, everyone who knew Manuel would always remember Manuel saying "everyone must dance now".
He is survived by his mother, Caty Segura of Las Vegas, daughters; Kathy Segura of Santa Maria, Syrena Segura of Santa Barbara, step-daughters; Liza Arredondo and Tina Escobar of Santa Maria, son, Alex Segura of Santa Maria, step-son, Richard Escobar of Santa Maria, sisters; Agnes Munoz of Las Vegas, Mary Dominquez and Margie Munoz of Las Vegas, Lorraine Gutierrez of Barstow, Bella Martinez of San Diego, brothers; Jose Segura of Newark and Sammy Segura of Texas. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Silviano Segura.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary Wednesday on, March 24, 1999 at 3:00 PM.
Cremation was requested by the deceased. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

WILLIAMS, Otis M
Otis M Williams, born December 9, 1912, passed away on March 20, 1999.
An aviator, businessman, philanthropist and family man, Mr Williams will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A resident of Santa Barbara for 30 years, he was a member of the Valley Club and Birnam Woo Golf Club.
At his request, no memorial services will be held; remembrances may be sent to a charity of your choice.
Mr Williams is survived by his wife, Lois H Williams. He will be interred at the Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas.

FISK, Gertrude Ross
passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 1999 at the age of 93. She was born to Charles and Elnora Ross on August 22, 1905, in Sioux City, Iowa, but grew up in Hollywood, California where she attended local schools. Gertrude graduated from UCLA in 1927 with a teaching credential in elementary education. Following her marriage to Arthur Gilman Fisk, Jr in 1930, they moved to Santa Barbara where Gertrude taught kindergarten and became involved in community activities and organizations.
Art and Gertrude were avid golfers and past Charter members of La Cumbre Golf and Country Club. She has been a longtime member of San Roque Church, PEO Sisterhood, and Pi Beta Phi fraternity, in addition to many service organizations such as Santa Barbara Assistance League and Cottage Hospital Auxiliary. Gertrude loved playing bridge with her friends and had a little-known passion for trout fishing.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1987. She is survived by her son, Ronald Ross Fisk (Elizabeth), of Goleta, CA; four grandchildren, Pamela Charboneau (Gregg) of Arlington, TX; Gayle Ramirez (Armando) of Santa Barbara, CA; Sheree Head (Richard) and Scott Fisk (Linda) of Veneta, OR, in addition to eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Her family and close friends affectionately knew her as "Trude".
The thoughts and prayers of those who knew her were a great comfort to Gertrude during her final days. Her family especially wants to thank the caregivers at Olsten Health Service, Jeanne West and the staff At Vista del Monte where Gertrude made her home for the past 12 years.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at San Roque Catholic Church in Santa Barbara at 10 am on Friday the 26th of March. Gertrude will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.

JIMENEZ, William Angelo Sr
was born June 27, 1932 in Santa Barbara and passed away on Friday, March 19, 1999 at Cottage Hospital at the age of 66, having been a long time resident of Carpinteria.
Mr Jimenez served in the US Army and saw active duty in the Korean War. He retired as a machinist from Channel Industries in Goleta after a 27 year career. His favorite hobbies included fishing with his grandson, going out for early morning walks, making people laugh, and having barbecues.
Mr Jimenez is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria of Carpinteria; sons, William Jimenez Jr of San Diego and Ray Jimenez of Carpinteria; daughter, Gail Hale of Kent, WA: grandson Scott Hale of Kent, WA; sisters, Dorothy Dominquez of Sumner, WA, Ramona Cruz of Santa Barbara, Margie Luera, Mary Ellen Rios, Rae Jimenez, Tillie Donnelley and Nellie Galvez all of Carpinteria; brothers, Raymond Jimenez, Ernie Jimenez and Fred Jimenez all of Carpinteria; 24 nephews & nieces.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 25, 7:00 pm at St Joseph's Chapel in Carpinteria. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 26, 10:00 am at Carpinteria Cemetery.

MOORE, Joseph Edward
age 71, died March 16, 1999 of a heart attack following a recent surgery.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sally, and his two children, Kathleen and Kenneth.
A resident of Santa Barbara since 1958, he moved here with Aerophysics Development Corporation that later became part of Curtis Wright, and finally retired from Delco Systems Operation in 1994. He spent many years as a self employed commercial photographer.
A better husband and father no one could ask for. We will miss him tremendously.

KNIGHT, Clyde Coleman
79 of Solvang, died January 19, 1998 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. Born in Santa Ynez on June 9, 1918, he was one of 13 children born to Frank & Julia Knight. He spent his youth & school years in Santa Ynez and graduated from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School in 1937. In 1938 he and Ellen Johnsen became engaged. A year later he went to work for her father, Pete Johnsen as an apprentice plasterer. In 1941, he and Ellen were married. The following year he joined the US Navy and was in the Pacific Theater during WWII. A son, Jim, was born while he was at sea. He was discharged in October 1945. He bought a lot overlooking the Santa Ynez River for $400.
A brick house was built where he and Ellen lived for 51 years. Another son Martin was born in 1947. Clyde was in the plastering trade for 47 years. He did a lot of bindings vaerk construction on Danish style buildings in Solvang. In 1966, he and Ferd Sorenson were asked to go to Leavenworth, Washington for 6 months to do similar Danish style construction. They were involved with changing the old town into a Swiss Bavarian Village. In 1968, Sons Jim & Martin were off to the Vietnam War.
Clyde always had a project going. Converting the old Santa Ynez Jail into a museum or setting up a committee to move Mabel Henderson's water tower into town. He was a Cub Scout Master. Past Commander of the VFW, was an Elks member for many years, parade chairman of Tortilla Days, then Santa Ynez Days. He ran a refreshment stand at the Alisal Guest Ranch for roping & horse shows. Along with all this he was a camera fiend. He loved taking lots of pictures of family and friends. For him to forget his camera was a catastrophe. There was always a return trip to fetch it.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife Ellen of 56 years, his sons Jim of Santa Barbara & Martin of Los Olivos, granddaughters, Tricia of Carpenteria, Amanda of Santa Barbara, Shauna of Los Olivos, grandson Paul of Santa Barbara. He is also survived by his sisters: Roberta Nacarato of San Jose, CA, Sylvia Graham of Carlsbad, CA, Patty Babcock of Ventura, CA, and Phyllis Henderson of Hawthorne, CA.
A graveside military service was held January 23, 1998 at Ballard Cemetery at 11 am with Rev. T. G. Torvik officiating.

REINESTO, Angie
A Santa Barbara resident all her life, passed away Monday, March 23, 1998, she was 94.
Mrs Reinesto is survived by her daughters: Dorothy and son-in-law JJ Arbelaitz of Santa Ynez, Georgia and son-in-law Henry Borgaro of Santa Barbara. She also leaves 4 grandchildren; John and Christine Arbelaitz, Virginia Arbelaitz, Angela and Phillip Beguhl and Richard and Heather Borgaro.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 PM at St. Raphael's Church, burial services will be private for family. WINSTROM, Jack Wm
A resident of Santa Barbara and Goleta for 70 of his 74 years, died suddenly on March 23, 1999.
Jack was born in Marion, Indiana July 19, 1924 and moved to Santa Barbara while still in preschool. He attended Garfield Elementary School, La Cumbre Jr High, and Santa Barbara High School, Class of January, 1942. World War II took Jack away from Santa Barbara and he served in the US Navy from March 1943 until February 1946. Jack's ship, DE340, participated in four of the major South Pacifica battles.
A graduate of UCLA in 1950, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Jack returned to Goleta, managing Goleta Electric Co. until 1958, when he founded Winstrom and Associates, designing electrical systems for schools, hospitals, health care facilities, institutional buildings and the Santa Barbara Airport. When questioned about his profession for a school assignment by granddaughter Valerie, Jack said, "It's fulfilling, and I think I'm doing mankind some good in designing the things I do."
Over the years Jack was President of Goleta Lions Club, member of the Goleta Presbyterian Church, 4-H Leader, member of Alisal Golf Club, Goleta Farm Bureau, Los Fiesteros Dance Club, the Goleta Amvets, a member of Santa Barbara Masonic Lodge No.192 and a past president of the National Electrical Contractors Association. He also was an active supporter of local schools.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Winstrom, son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Andrea Winstrom, daughter and son-in-law Jill and Dennis Lanes, daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Bill Rose. Seven grandchildren, who will miss their "Papa" very much are Andrew and Katie Lanes, Valerie, Tracie and Samantha Winstrom, Holly and Jack Rose. Jack is also survived by a sister, Beth Groom of Barefoot Bay, Florida.
Jack and his wonderful sense of humor will be missed so very much. We love you Papa
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 1999 at 11:00am at Welch-Ryce-Haider Goleta Chapel. There will be a private interment at a later date.

DAUGHERTY, Velma McCrory
Passed away at 102 years of age on March 10, 1999. Mrs Daugherty was born in Crawford County, Illinois in 1896. She had been married for over forty years to the late General Lester Amiel Daugherty and resided in Santa Barbara for their entire marriage.
Prior to her coming to Santa Barbara to manage the I Magnin department store, she had been an executive and buyer with I Magnin in San Francisco and Wolf Brothers in Kansas City. She retired from I Magnin several years after marrying General Daugherty.
Mrs Daugherty is survived by three nieces and two nephews, two stepsons, Bill and George Daugherty, eight grand- children and fifteen great grandchildren.
The funeral service was performed by her grandson, David McKay of Portland, Oregon at Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 15, 1999. Interment was held at the Santa Barbara Cemetery following service.

SBARAGLIA, Ugo Ezio
A Santa Barbara resident since 1968, died at his home on Wednesday, March 24, 1999. He was 72. Born December 1, 1926 in Newcastle, PA, the son of Marino Sbaraglia and Cesarina (Bernardi) Sbaraglia both of Perugia, Italy. After serving in the Army Air Corps from 1944-1946, he moved to Los Angeles and began his higher education. He received his degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal-Aero Technical Institute in Glendale in 1949, and did graduate studies in Analysis and Design of Space Structure at UCLA from 1962-1964.
Mr Sbaraglia worked for numerous companies as an Aerospace Engineer including Hughes Aircraft, Marquardt Aircraft Company, Century Engineers, Radioplane Company, Tex Johnson Inc, Aerospacelines, Tracor Aviation, Raytheon, Lucas Aviation, and for the last ten years he operated his own company Sbaraglia Engineering and Consulting where he did consulting work for and represented the Federal Aviation Administration worldwide.
He was the co-inventor of patent #3251184, entitled Variable Thrust Rocket Engine, and during his career he received many awards and commen- dations.
His interests included sailboat racing, skiing, and photography.
Mr Sbaraglia is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Jean (Ruklic) Sbaraglia of Santa Barbara, his son Michael Sbaraglia of Providence, RI, his daughter Jennifer Thomas of Santa Barbara, and his five grand- children, Daniel, Lauren, Christina, Luke, and Jacob Thomas.
A graveside service is planned for today, Saturday, March 27, at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Cemetery.

IACCACI, Hope Norton
Passed away on March 20, 1999 at her home in Santa Barbara, California. She was 95 years old and died of natural causes.
Mrs Iaccaci, fondly known as "Tita" was born in Greenwich, CT on October 27, 1903. As a young girl, she attended Miss Porters School in Farmington, CT She lived a major part of her life in Darien and New Canaan, CT and maintained a summer residence in Hebron, NH.
In the early 1980's, she moved to Belvedere, CA and later relocated to Montecito, CA. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter, Thayer I Lambrecht in Santa Barbara where she had purchased a home.
Mrs Iaccaci was the daughter of Evermont Hope Norton and Lilly Morrison Carr. Mr Norton had been instrumental in the economic development of Ecuador, South America.
She was the widow of Paul Thayer Iaccaci. Her first marriage was to George E Stevens.
Tita is survived by two sons, Don Edward Stevens of La Jolla, CA, Peter Norton Stevens, of Carlsbad, CA and her daughter, Thayer Iaccaci Lambrecht, of Santa Barbara. She leaves nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held in Hebron, NH this summer.

WILLIS, Dorothy J
90, died in family home, Tuesday, March 23rd of complications from a stroke.
Mrs Willis was born in Pittsburgh, PA, lived many years in New Jersey, then with her husband and family moved to Santa Barbara in 1948, where she had been a resident until 4 months ago. At one time she was a member of the UCSB Home Extension Unit, worked for Studio Q, and was a private tailor and dressmaker. She was a fine gardener and known as a generous and helpful neighbor, and one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Torres of Santa Barbara, and Nancy Witters of Apple Valley; seven grand- children, Joanna Escoto-Grabowski, Daryl Escoto, and Michael Escoto of North Fork & Bakersfield, Allen Witters of Prior Lake, MN, David Witters of Redondo Beach, Devin Witters of Oxnard, and Andrea Witters of Apple Valley; and five great grandchildren. A sister Annabelle Warrick, in Fresno, CA, a sister Marian Sullivan, in New York and a brother George Powell, in Virginia are still living.
No services are planned at this time.

EGGERDING, Victor C
1903 - 1999
Victor C Eggerding passed away on March 18, 1999, in Santa Barbara, California. He was born in Prairie, Illinois on April 2, 1903. He attended Brown Business College in St Louis, and later received his law degree from the Benton College of Law after seven years of study in evening classes.
In 1937 he joined Gaylord Container Corporation as the General Credit Manager. In 1960, when the company merged with Crown Zellerbach he was transferred to San Francisco as the Assistant Treasurer and General Credit Manager of Crown Zellerbach Corporation, a position that he held until his retirement in 1968. He was active in many business and civic organizations. He was president of the National Association of Credit Men and was an enthusiastic advocate for business education. He served as director of the St Louis Chamber of Commerce, St Louis County YMCA, St Louis Kiwanis Club and the St Louis Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was treasurer of the Social Planning Council of St Louis County. He was active in the Lutheran Church, and he served as president of Messiah Lutheran Church in St Louis and West Portal Lutheran Church in San Francisco.
In 1989, he moved to Casa Dorinda in Santa Barbara where he enjoyed the rest of his life in the friendship and loving care of everyone there. He had natural musical talent and would entertain residents with his daily musical concerts. He was a wonderful father. He loved people and they loved him back.
He is survived by a daughter, Faye Eggerding of Pasadena, California and his three nieces and three nephews.
Burial is at Evangelical St Paul Cemetery in Columbia, Illinois. A Reception will be held at Casa Dorinda on Tuesday, March 30 at 11:00 am Donations may be sent to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 3721 Modoc Road, Santa Barbara, California 93105.

WOOD, Verna Harriet
8 October 1918-23 March 1999
Verna Wood, 80, a previous longtime resident of Santa Barbara, passed away at Mission Bay Hospital in San Diego, after a lengthy illness. Born Verna Harriet Coulter on 8 October 1918 in Park River, North Dakota, where she attended school and grew up, she later relocated to Santa Barbara, California in 1951. She worked locally as a waitress for many years in some of Santa Barbara's finest restaurants including the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel, the El Paseo Restaurant, the Mar Monte (Sheraton) Hotel, the El Presidio Restaurant, and the Silver Spur.
She and her husband Robert, who preceded her in death on 1 July 1997, moved to San Diego, California in 1970 where she retired and became a full time homemaker. Both she and her husband were active for over 44 years in the Royal Order of the Moose in Santa Barbara and in San Diego (Kearney Mesa Moose Lodge). That was her proudest social affiliation and one in which she actively participated. She also had a unique talent in artfully crocheting and knitting blankets and clothing for many of her children and grand- children, keepsakes that she will long be remembered for. She was adored by her grand- children who looked forward to visits at Grandma and Grandpa's home.
Mrs Wood is survived by her only remaining brother Robert Coulter of Newport Ritchie, Florida. Her Mother Cora Barnett of Santa Barbara, another brother Richard "Bud" Coulter of East Grand Forks, Minnesota and her only sister Merle Cariveau of Santa Barbara had preceded her passing. She is also survived by her children, Richard (and Irene) Skare of Stillwater, Minnesota; Douglas (and Tommi) Skare of Moreno Valley, California; Diane Zamora and Daryl (and Mary) Skare of Santa Barbara, California; a stepdaughter Cheryl (and Brian) Evans in Florida; twelve Grandchildren, twenty-four Great Grandchildren; five Great Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and viewing will be on Sunday, 28 March 1999 between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at McDermott- Crockett Mortuary, 1903 State St, Santa Barbara, Ca. Graveside services will be on Monday, 29 March 1999, at 11:00 am at Goleta Cemetery, 44 So San Antonio Rd, Santa Barbara. Eddy Edwards, Minister of Unity Church in Santa Barbara will officiate.

MACIAS, Cecilia Z
In loving memory of Cecilia, who died on Friday, March 26, 1999, surrounded by her loved ones.
Cecilia was born in Michoacan, Mexico on November 22, 1906 to Graciano and Josefa Saragosa. She came to Carpinteria with her family in 1920, where she met her husband Jose L Macias. Cecilia and Jose were married for 65 years. She worked at the Lemon Packing House, where she met many of her life long friends. She liked walking to town and seeing all her friends and one of her greatest joys was being surrounded by her family and friends and "living her life to the fullest."
She was always very happy sharing her many pictures and stories with her friends, but she especially enjoyed sharing them with her grand- daughter's. She liked taking walks to the beach with her grandchildren and working and watering in her garden.
She was so loved and cherished and was a very very "Special Grand- mother", mother and friend. "We all love you".
She is survived by her five children, Ed (Sara) Macias, Henry (Teri) Macias, Joe, Jr "Bunky", (Celia) Macias, Ruben Macias, Maria Delia "Chica" Decierdo, her sisters and brothers, Margaret (Reginald) Valasquez, Josephine "Chepi" David Garcia, Natalia Muniz, Andrew (Margarita) Saragosa and John (Mary) Saragosa.
She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son David and sisters Mary Saragosa and Carmelita Cuenca.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 30 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at McDermott-Crockett Mortuary, 1903 State St The Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:00 pm at St Joseph's Church, Carpinteria. Mass will be on Wednesday, 10:00 am at St Joseph's. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Carpinteria Cemetery. Memorial donations and flowers c/o St Joseph's Church.

ARNOLD, Marshall E
1922 - 1999
Marshall E Arnold was born in the state of Connecticut on December 20, 1922 and left this earth on March 25, 1999. One of the first things a new acquaintance learned about Marshall was his pride in his New England heritage. He attended local schools in Connecticut and after high school moved to Boston, MA and graduated from Boston School of Fine Arts.
Marshall followed a career in the theater in Los Angeles, CA. He sometimes joked that he couldn't get any important roles on the stage or screen because he looked like Henry Fonda. He worked many years for Ingram Industries in the Los Angeles area.
He was a veteran of two branches of the Armed Forces, the Army and the Navy, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater on Guam. He was a cook for the US Navy and told tales of preparing massive meals for his shipmates.
Marshall preferred being called "Buddy", a name that suited him well. He loved his many friends and they loved him. We could always count on a warm friendly smile from Buddy whether he was a patient in the hospital or across the dinner table. During his retirement years from Ingram Industries, he lived in Santa Barbara, CA, the adopted city of his mother and father who along with a sister, predeceased Buddy. He is survived by cousins and a niece and nephew in Connecticut.
He was a member of the SPOT dinner club and entertained us with stories of the theater and his adventurous past. None of us will forget his pleasure consuming large portions of Mud Pie with extra chocloate sauce at his favorite restaurant on numerous birthday celebrations.
Dear Buddy, your happy disposition, your appreciation of tiny favors, and your exuberance for life will live in our hearts. And now one final time, as we used to say as we parted after our dinners together, "Say Good night Buddy". We will miss you.

DINKINS, George
Retired Naval Officer
1909 - 1999
George L Dinkins, 44 year resident, died in Santa Barbara on March 27. He was born in south eastern Missouri on February 11, 1909 to Mr and Mrs Byron L Dinkins and was one of 14 siblings. George came to the Santa Barbara/ Ventura county area at age sixteen. After completing high school and a 21-year naval career, he retired and returned to Santa Barbara, establishing a permanent home.
On July 16, 1932, George (then of San Diego, Ca) and Bernice Hammack of Greenville, Mo were married. To this union, on April 28, 1933 a daughter, Doris, was born, and on March 1, 1939 a son, Gary.
During the early part of his naval career (1929-1930), Mr Dinkins served and traveled in exotic areas of the world, including a term of riverboat service up and down the Yangtse River in China. At the beginning of World War II he served aboard the cruiser USS St Louis in the Pearl Harbor battle, and took part in several of the Asia/Pacific battles throughout the war. The last 18 months of the war were completed aboard the USS New Kent, a troop transport and landing craft. Shortly after the end of WWII, Mr Dinkins and a group of other officers also saw first hand the devastation of Hiroshima.
Many friends and associates in Santa Barbara will remember him from his 30 years in the automobile sales business after retirement from the Navy. Mr Dinkins lived a happy life with his wife Bernice, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren through a marriage of 67 years. During the last few years of his life, Mr Dinkins wrote a book entitled "One Man's Life Account, and Practicality Theory on Ancient Egyptian Pyramids", dealing with pyramid construction techniques. The book was published by Vantage Press of New York and registered in the Library of Congress.
Survivors are his wife, Bernice Dinkins of Santa Barbara; his daughter, Doris Dinkins MacTavish of Aptos, Ca and her three children; his son, Gary G Dinkins of Ojai, Ca and his three children; as well as 3 great grandchildren. Living brothers and sisters are: Dorothy Dinkins Rhodes of Mineola, Tx; Tom Dinkins of Piedmont, Mo; Roy Dinkins of Benton, Ill; John Dinkins of Piedmont, Mo; and Marjorie Dinkins Smith of Fort Worth, Tx
A memorial service will be held at Welch-Ryce- Haider Chapel in Santa Barbara, on Tuesday, March 30 at 3:00pm Interment will be at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.

HENRICKSON, Ross Oweno
Passed away unexpect- edly March 26, 1999. He was born May 15, 1949. Ross grew up in Santa Barbara and attended elementary, junior high and high school here. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School with the class of '47.
After graduation, Ross entered the United States Army and served over 18 months of front line combat in the Korean War.
He was a skilled tile worker and worked many years for Select Tile of Santa Barbara.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dorthea Henrickson of Goleta. He is also survived by his four stepdaughters, Arlene Dain of Renton, WA, Marlene Thomas of Santa Rosa, CA, Cheryl Smith of Provo, UT, and Janet Janssen of Applegate, OR Ross was preceded in death by a stepson, Richard Blake. Ross will be missed by a large, loving family including 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 30th at 1 pm, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 478 Cambridge Drive, Goleta.
Burial will be at Goleta Cemetery immediately following the services.
All of Ross' many friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.
