LILLIE M. AVERY

Lillie Mae Barr Avery, 65, of Huttig, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Huttig.

Born Jan.15, 1936, in Huttig, she was the daughter of Otto and Thelma Barr. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Huey P. Barr, Jackie Wayne Barr and Jimmy Earl Barr.

Survivors include three sisters: Maudell Neal of Houston, Texas, Lovie Broughton of Huttig and Mae Andrews of Marion, La.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Huttig Burial will be in Batts Chapel Cemetery in Huttig under the direction of Union Funeral Home of Farmerville.

The family will be at Govan Community Center following the funeral service.

RUBY M. ALDERSON

Ruby Mae Alderson, 63, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born Dec. 20, 1937, in Oakland, La., she was the daughter of Jesse and Ruby B. Brown Ross Sr. She was retired from Amercable and was a member of Union Mission Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Terry Alderson; four brothers, Oscar Ross, Willie Ross, John L. Ross and L.C. Ross; and two sisters: Ora C. Johnson and Carolyn Lindsey.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Alderson of El Dorado; a stepson, Michael Alderson of El Dorado; three daughters, JoAnn Alderson of McKinney, Texas, Mary Jean McCarty of Duncanville, Texas, and Lillie M. Nwankwo of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Jesse Ross Jr. of Belleville, Mich.; three sisters: Minnie E. Beasley of El Dorado, Etta N. White of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ethel B. Willis, Detroit, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Union Mission Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Phifer officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Garden under the direction of Sims Mortuary.

The family hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m today and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m on Saturday. The family will be at 402 Cargile Y, El Dorado.

OTHA L. ANDREWS

Otha Leon "Shorty" Andrews, 84, of Little Rock, and formerly of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Southwest Hospital in Little Rock.

Born Dec. 29, 1916, in Morrilton, he was the son of Lonnie Nathan and Ora Mae Meeler Andrews. He was a retired pipefitter and member of Baton Rouge Local 198; a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe and the Mideast, and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Betty Fay Richardson White Andrews and Kay Andrews; a son, Travis Andrews Sr.; a stepson, Jim F. Whte; and a brother, Carl S. Andrews.

Survivors include five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cremation memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Young's Chapel with Dr. Dwain Miller officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ROBERT L. GREEN

Lt. Col. Robert Lee Green (retired), 73, of Vidalia, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Ferriday, La.

Born Oct. 17, 1927, in Junction City, he was the son of Joseph Thomas and Estelle Green. He was a graduate of Marion Military Institute in Alabama and the Citadel Military College in South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1976 in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vidalia.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Ruth Green of Vidalia; a son, Joseph T. Green of Baton Rouge, La.; a daughter, Edna Mayfied Green of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Clara Thompson of Junction City; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Junction City. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Visitaiton will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

BILLIE M. JACKSON

Billie Margaret Jackson, 68, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

Born Jan. 12, 1933, in Hamburg, she was the daughter of Robert Henry and L.C. Morris Gill. She was a homemaker, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, Campfire Girls Leader, Cub Scout den mother and Second Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur Gail Jackson; and a brother, Robert Louis Gill.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Gail Jackson of Norphlet; and two daughters, Ester Carol Hollis of Fountain Hill and Billie Jean Carlyle of El Dorado; five granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Young's Chapel with the Revs. Allen Grimmiitt and Dwight Bird officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

The family will be at 244 Patrick Lane.

JAMES JERNIGAN

James Jernigan, 58, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his home.

Born Dec. 20, 1942, in Brewton, Ala., he was the son of Jeffie and Lucy S. Jones Jernigan. He was assistant manager at ConAgra and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jeffie Jernigan Jr.; and three sisters, Lena R. Gildersleeve, Annie M. Johnson and Willa J. Jernigan.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Jernigan of El Dorado; two sons, Chris and Bruce Jernigan of El Dorado; three daughters, Annette Jernigan of Pensacola, Fla., Dionna K. Bozieux of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Errane Jernigan of El Dorado; a stepmother, Irene Jernigan of Pensacola; a brother, Troy Jernigan of Augusta, Ga.; four sisters, Minnie Lindsay, Clara Lee Jernigan and Marie Jernigan, all of Pensacola, and Patricia Harris of St. Louis, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Quinn Baptist Church with the Revs. John Elliot and Timothy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Quinn Cemetery in El Dorado under the direction of Sims Mortuary.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at 306 Pinewood in El Dorado.

Annie T. Nisley, 98, formerly of Lisbon, La.. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in Los Angeles, Calif. Arrangements will be announced by King Funeral Home of Ruston, La.

ERMA A. SAULSBURY

Erma Alice Benson Saulsbury, 75, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

Born Aug. 17, 1925 in Hannah, Okla., she was the daughter of Robert and Callie Cox Benson. She was a homemaker and El Dorado resident since 1945 and member of the Jehovah's Witness faith.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Walton Saulsbury of El Dorado; two sons, Dennis Saulsbury of El Dorado and Stewart Salusbury of Maumelle; a daughter, Deborah Bell of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Nancy Amburgey of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Young's Chapel with Elder Jim Ayers officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lillian Davis Short, 95, of El Dorado, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young's Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Rainwater officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

ODIE L. TALLEY

Odie Lee Chaney Talley, 85, of Lawson, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born Dec. 10, 1915, in Chaneyville, she was the daughter of W.A. and Patty Graves Chaney. She was retired after 43 years as postmaster at the Lawson U.S. Post Office, co-manager of A.C. Chaney & Co. in Lawson and was a member of Lawson Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J.A. "Abe" Talley.

Survivors include two sons, Wendell Talley of El Dorado and Chaney Talley of Lawson; a daughter, Sue Talley Bell of El Dorado; a brother, A.C. Chaney of Savannah, Ga.; three sisters, Dorthee Griffin of Hot Springs, Christine Blackwood of El Dorado and Virgie Armistead of Oak Ridge, Tenn., six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lawson Baptist Church with the Rev. David Talbert and David Talley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be at 1911 Lawson Road, Lawson.

WILLIAM M. BAKER

William Michael Baker, 41, of Carlsbad, Calif., died Saturday, Aug. 19 [2000], in Los Angeles County, Calif., as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Born Aug. 12, 1959, in Indianapolis, Ind., he was the son of Robert F. and Peggy Beard Baker. He was a graduate of Plano Texas High School and served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. 

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Peggy Baker of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Robert Joseph Baker of Dallas; a sister, Carolyn Baker Beard of Coppell, Texas; and his grandmother, Nezzie Baker of Warren.

Funeral and burial was in Dallas, Texas, under the direction of Restland Funeral Home.

NELLIE E. CRAMER

Nellie Ethel "Nell" Cramer, 89, of Camden, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Medical Center of South Arkansas. 

She was born Sept. 2, 1912, the daughter of Council and Hattie Haynes Cramer. She was a member of Elliott Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harvey Cramer, Infant Cramer and Clarence Cramer; a sister, Helen Cramer Riggs; a nephew, Morris S. Riggs; a niece, Doris Cramer Wooley; and a great-nephew, Eddy D. Riggs.

She is survived by two nephews, Charles N. Riggs and his wife, Verda, of Camden, and James K. Riggs and his wife, Patsy, of Price, Texas; two nieces, Louise Riggs Ashby and her husband, James, of Carthage, Texas, and Norma Kinnard Ables of Camden; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Steed Cramer of New London, Texas, and Mamie Pickering Cramer Knoles of Shreveport, La.; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-great-nieces, and great-great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Proctor Funeral Home with the Revs. Cade Haynes Riggs and Donald Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home.

DEWESE W. NEAL

Dewese W. Neal, 85, of El Dorado, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. 

He was a truck driver.

Survivors include three sons, Barney Joe Neal, Woodie Wayne Neal and Robert Dewitt Neal, all of El Dorado; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today in the Chapel of Hixson Bros, Inc., of Jena, La., with the Rev. Larry Lyles officiating. Burial will be in Randall Cemetery in Aimwell, La., under the direction of Hixson Bros., Inc., of Jena.

LOLA M. TIDWELL

Lola Mae Tidwell, 48, of Minneapolis, Minn., and formerly of El Dorado, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Minneapolis. 

Born July 4, 1954, in Altimer, she was the daughter of Alberta Warsaw and William Tidwell. She was a member of the 1972 graduating class of El Dorado High School. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, William Farver.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Williams and Virginia Tidwell of St. Louis, Mo.; q son, Tameko Stocker of Minneapolis; q sister, Loistene Creer of El Dorado; three brothers, L.C. Stevenson of Odessa, Texas, James Robinson of El Dorado, and a brother in Chicago, Ill.; and two granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery.

The family will be at 1232 Mosby Circle.

THELMA E. WIGFIELD

Funeral for Thelma Ellen Wigfield, 71, of El Dorado, will be at 10 a.m. today at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Phil Pinckard officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
