Evelyn E. Brimhall
Evelyn E. Brimhall, age 71, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Brimhall was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Brinkley, and was the daughter of William Campbell Sr. and Lena Lee Acuff Campbell. She lived in St. Francis County for most of her life, was retired from Reltoc Manufacturing and attended the Madison Baptist Church.
She married Thomas Brimhall in 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Brimhall of Jonesboro and William Brimhall of Forrest City; three daughters, Susie Lee Treece of Calico Rock, Darlene Goins of Forrest City and C. Dianne Smith of McAllen , Texas; one brother, William Campbell Jr. of Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held today at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bernice P. Clark
Bernice P. Clark, age 89, of Weatherford, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, in a Weatherford Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1910, in Savannah, Tenn. She was a homemaker, a cashier for IGA in Missouri and a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Smotherman of Weatherford, Texas and Mary Swatloski of Forrest City; two sisters, Dean Williams of Wardell, Mo., and Dorothy Bean of Risco, Mo.; one brother, Frank Alexander of Yucaipa, Calif.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Clark in 1982 and two brothers, Jack and Joe Alexander.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo.
Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Home Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Howard Glenn Exum II
Howard Glenn Exum II, age 26, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at his home.
He was a 1991 graduate of Forrest City High School where he was participated in drama, FFA and playing in the band. He also attended East Arkansas Community College.
He is survived by his parents, Howard Glenn and Edna Faye Exum I of Caldwell; his grandfather, Orville Archer of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Thompson-Wilson Wynne Chapel at 2 p.m. with burial following in Lindsey Cemetery. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of Wynne and McCrory were in charge of the arrangements.

Ardella "Della" Ferguson
Ardella "Della" Ferguson, age 83, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Crest Park Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
Mrs. Ferguson was born April 7, 1916, in Little Rock. She spent most of her life in Caldwell and was a housewife. She married Gene Preutiss Ferguson in 1935.
She is survived by her husband Gene Ferguson of Forrest City; a son Gene Ferguson of Abbingdon, Md.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held graveside Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Crittendon Memorial Park in West Memphis under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Linda Ruth Davidson
Linda Ruth Davidson, age 56, of Colt, died Monday, January 3, 2000, at her home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Wynne, to William and Estelle Searcy. She was a district secretary for the Reliable Life Insurance Company and a member of the Village Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Kenneth Davidson in 1965, and he survives her along with three sons, Ken Davidson, Victor Davidson and Kyle Davidson, all of Colt; her mother, Estelle Searcy of Wynne; two sisters, Wanda Johnson of Cherry Valley and Donna McFadden of Blytheville; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Steven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Village Creek MB Church with burial to follow in Loughridge Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Village Creek MB Church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Christopher Michael Russell Jr.
Christopher Michael Russell Jr., one month 12 days, of Hughes, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at his home.
He is survived by his parents, Christopher Michael Russell Sr. and Heather Russell of Hughes; his grandparents, William and Dorothy Bell of Hughes, Jim and Linda Reynolds of West Memphis, Spencer and Kathy Russell of South Carolina, and Ray Hugueley of Hughes; a half sister Peyton Ashton Wise of Hughes; a half brother, John Freeman Chamness of Hughes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis with burial to follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

James Ursery
James Ursery, age 64, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
He was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Widener. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Berthella Ursery of Forrest City; two sons, Herbert Ursery of San Bernadino, Calif., and James Ursery Jr. of Little Rock; a daughter, Barbara Davis of Detroit, Mich.; 10 brothers, T.J. Ursery of Forrest City, Jimmy Ursery and Charlie Ursery, both of Los Angeles, Calif., A.D. Ursery of Detroit, Mich., Leon Ursery of Florida, J.C. Ursery of South Bend, Ind., Willie Ursery, Robert Ursery, Theodis Ursery and Sylvester Ursery, all of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Myrtle Ursery and Margaret Love, both of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Clay Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.
Services will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bradley House officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Nellie Lucille Davis
Nellie Lucille Davis, age 69, of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forest City.
Mrs. Davis was born March 22, 1930, in Heth, and was the daughter of Boss Powell and Nellie Louise Pogue Powell. She was formerly of Houston, Texas, was a housewife, was a past student of East Arkansas Community College and attended Second Baptist Church.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband James A. Davis in 1998 and her sister, Ruby Davis.
She is survived by one son, Doss Burgess Jr. of Maumelle; three daughters, Irene Johnson of Jonesboro, Virginia Smith of Batesville, and Sharon Leon of Conway; four sisters, Mary Meek of Forrest City, JoAnn Lair of Lubbock, Texas, Nellie Evans and Kathy Bennett, both of Searcy; four brothers, Sonny Powell, Eugene Powell, Jimmy Powell, all of Palestine, and Richard Powell of Judsonia; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held graveside, Sunday, Jan. 9, at Bell Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Doris Jean Morgan
Doris Jean Morgan, age 57, of Colt, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Morgan was born August 14, 1942, in Wynne, and was the daughter of Alton Woods and Gracie Mae Smith Woods. She lived in Colt most of her life and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Morgan in 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Morgan, Brad Morgan and Keith Morgan all of Colt; a daughter, Sheri Wilson of Wynne; her mother, Gracie Mae Woods of Newcastle; a sister, Janet Woods Dye of Newcastle and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Jan. 9, at Stevens Funeral Home with burial at Loughridge Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.

Rena Doris Walls
Rena Doris Walls, age 65, formerly of Pine Tree, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Nursing Home in Heber Springs.
Mrs. Walls was born August 25, 1934, in White Hall and was the daughter of James Elton Bryan and Velma Ripley Bryan. She lived in Pine Tree most of her life, was a house wife and a member of Pine Tree Baptist Church.
She married William H. Walls in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She had two children, Patricia Brown and Rickey Walls, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Chapman and Sandra Flannagan both of Heber Springs, and Connie Dye of Colt; two sons, Terry Walls and Elton Walls both of Colt; three brothers, Gary Bryan of Colt, Junior Bryan of Memphis, and Larry Bryan of California; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held graveside Monday, Jan. 10, at Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home

Adeline M. Beck
Adeline M. Beck, age 85, of Hughes, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Beck was born July 28, 1914, in Lewisburg, Tenn., to Grover Bunyan Markham and Ethel Markham. She lived in Hughes most of her life, was a housewife, a member of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church in Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jo Beck in 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Carey Goacher of Hughes; two grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hughes with Rev. Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

James Wesley Key
James Wesley Key, age 74, of Marianna, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
Mr. Key was born June 29, 1925, in Cotton Plant and was the son of Andrew Jackson Key and Dora Virginia Hudsbeth. He was a retired farmer and a member of Walls Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Key of Marianna; a son, James Key Sr. of Marianna; six sisters, Mildred Wilson of Earle, Margaret Mahan of Pawnee, Okla., Florence Manasco of Marianna, Ailene Dickerson of Grapevine, Texas, Juanita Lambert and Betty Nossaman both of Midwest City, Okla., and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, Jan 12, 2000, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna. Services will be held graveside, Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at 2 p.m., at Marianna Memorial Park with Rev. Andy Wilbanks officiating. Roller-Citizens is in charge of arrangements.

Louis Lee Holland, age 73, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
He was born June 3, 1926, in Forrest City, to Oscar Holland and Zera McNutt Holland.
He is survived by four brothers, Otis Holland of Forrest City, James Holland of Pine Bluff, Tony Holland of Little Rock, and Joe Walker of Detroit, Mich.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at 12 p.m. at Shady Grove M.B. Church with Rev. Billy Gene McClendon, age 60, of Marianna, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1939, to Gene McClendon and Francis Eloise Morris in Lee County.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine McClendon; his mother, Francis Whitehead of Marianna; a son, Robert McClendon of Edgerton, Mo.; a daughter, Cynthia Smith of Clarksdale, Miss.; a step-daughter, Jerri Howton of Marianna; five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several other friends and relatives.

Katie Mae Pearson, 79, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Rebsamen Medical Center.
Mrs. Pearson was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Haynes.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Wade of North Little Rock, and Tony Pearson of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Brenda Reynolds of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Charlie Bonner of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Hannah Wicks of Forrest City, and Sarah Williams of Little Rock.

Jurl Wofford, 81, of Widener, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Mr. Wofford was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Widener and was a former highway construction worker. He was also a former member of the Widener City Council.
He is survived by seven sons, Jewel Wofford of St. Louis, Mo., Herman Wofford of Bowling Green, Ken., Hal Wofford of Widener, Joel Wofford of Triangle, Va., Sterling Wofford of Woodbridge, Va., Gregory Wofford of Lancaster, Texas, and Carl Wofford of Lancaster, Calif.; seven daughters, Doris Hutcherson and Carol Wofford both of Dallas, Texas, Mable Brumfield of Milwaukee, Wis., Lillie Nelson of Cleveland, Ohio, Dorothy Witherspoon and Janice Wofford both of Kansas City, Mo., and Loretta Milow of Flint, Mich; five sisters, Flora Mae Harris, Laurean Hawkins, and Charlene Watson all of St. Louis. Mo., Ophelia Kimbrough of Detroit, Mich., and Artie Evans of Springfield, Ohio; three brothers, Albert Wofford of Madison, Otha Lee Wofford of Seattle, Wash., and Cornelius Wofford of Philadelphia, Pa.; 36 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Lonnie Eugene Byrd
Lonnie Eugene Byrd, age 75, of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
He was born June 9, 1924, and was the son of Lonnie Luther Byrd and Mollie Irene Presley Byrd. He was retired from Sanyo Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Byrd in 1997.
He is survived by two sons, Lloyd Byrd of Forrest City and Bobby Byrd of Marianna; one brother, Donnie Joe Byrd of Forrest City; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Morgan Chapel with Rev. Bud Davis officiating. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Mattie Blanche England
Mattie Blanche England, age 93, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home in Forrest City.
She was born Jan. 21, 1906, in Widener and was the daughter of James Sparkman and Esther Fisher Sparkman. She lived in Forrest City most all of her life, was a housewife and was a member of the Forrest Chapel Methodist Church.
She married Beverly B. England in 1931 and he preceded her in death in 1953. She is survived by one son, Jerry England of Forrest City; one daughter, Frances Trimue of Forrest City; one sister, Hazel Killough of Norwood, La.; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Hughes Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Forrest Chapel Methodist Church or the Grand Memorial Presbyterian Church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn "Sweetie" W. Gatling, age 99, of Memphis, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
She was born July 10, 1900, in Forrest City and was the daughter of Eugene Williams and Eddie Mallory Williams. She lived in Forrest City most all of her life, she was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church of Forrest City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gatling in 1966.
She is survived by one son, Chambliss W. Gatling of Memphis; one step-daughter, Mary Gatling Logan of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at 4 p.m. with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Clifton Clymer "C.C." Keisling
Clifton Clymer "C.C." Keisling, age 90, of Marianna, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
He was born Feb. 18, 1909, in Picket County, Tenn., and was the son of Emitt Keisling and Sally Ledbetter Keisling. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Christian Church of Marianna.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Dale Conner Keisling of Marianna; three sons, Bennie Ceciel Keisling of Nashville, Tenn., Terry Keisling of Ola, Ark., and Ronnie Dale Keisling of Water Valley, Miss.; one daughter, Ann Peterson of Eudora, Miss.; one sister, Edna "Tootsie" Smith of Livingston, Tenn.; his stepmother, Hettie Keisling of Livingston, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Marianna with Rev. Randy Hall officiating. Burial followed in Memphis Memory Gardens with Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Eva Ellen Brakensiek
Eva Ellen Brakensiek, age 94, of West Memphis, formerly of Tyronza, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Johnson-Hobson Health Care Center in Marion.
She was a general insurance clerk for Treadwell and Harry and was a member of the Rosewood Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Brakensiek.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Reynolds of Proctor, and Jane Sisler of Corpus Christi, Texas; one son, Charles Brakensiek of West Memphis; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis. Burial will follow in Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza, under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Edith Bell Porter
Edith Bell Porter, age 87, of Forrest City, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Russell in 1974, and two sons Willie Porter in 1999, and Jerry Porter in 1975.
She is survived by her sister Pecolar Jones of Chicago, Ill; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Kennedy Chapel from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 22, at Salem M.B. Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.

Brenda K. Jayroe
Mrs. Brenda K. Jayroe, age 48, of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
She was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Flint, Mich., and was the daughter of Harold Ruff and Ona Kiefner Ruff. She had lived in Forrest City for the past 31 years, was office manager for Jayroe and Company Accountant and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Forrest City.
She married Rev. Aubrey L. Jayroe in 1971, and he survives her along with a son, Trent Jayroe of Forrest City; a sister, Janet Hicks of Forrest City; a brother, Rev. Fred Ruff of Mountain Home; and her mother, Ona Ruff of Forrest City.
Funeral services were held today, Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the First Pentecostal Church in Forrest City at 1 p.m. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

John Fulbright Felton
Mr. John Fulbright Felton of Eva, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was 62.
Mr. Felton was born Sept. 2, 1937, the son of Felecia Curtis Felton and Dan Felton Sr. He graduated from T.A. Futrall High School in Marianna in 1955, and was a 1959 graduate of Mississippi State University.
Mr. Felton married Ann Stone Felton of Memphis, and for 20 years was active in the farming operations at Felton in Lee County. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Marianna, and was a member of the Lee County Soil Conservation Board for 12 years.
In 1994, Mr. Felton and his wife moved to Eva, Tenn., where he enjoyed fishing and many other outdoor activities. He was also active in the Eva Methodist Church.
Mr. Felton is survived by his wife, Ann; two children, John Robert Felton of Felton and Felecia F. Bradshaw of Marion; one brother, Dan Felton Jr., of Felton; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Amy Helen Felton and Mary Catherine F. Nowlin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the First Christian Church in Marianna with Rev. Max Goins, Rev. Johnnie Arnold and Cliff Allen officiating. Burial will be in Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of Marianna.
The family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church in Marianna.

Edward Lee Hendrix
Mr. Edward Lee Hendrix, age 53, of Palestine, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Monroe, on July 27, 1946, to Hershell Hendrix and Pauline Hendrix. He was a farmer, an avid fisherman and hunter. He lived in Palestine for five years and was a Pentecost.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hershell Hendrix.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline Hendrix of Palestine; his wife, Rachel Jeanette Hendrix of Palestine; three sons, James Hendrix, Jason Hendrix and Jerry Hendrix all of Fayetteville; a daughter, Loretta Ann Hendrix of Palestine; a brother, Roy Hendrix of Madina, Ohio; three sisters, Carolyn Fong of Marianna, Joyce Ann Fought of Moro, and Linda Hayes of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is today, Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fowler Funeral Home in Brinkley.
Services will be Thursday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. at Fowler Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Parrish Officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro under the direction of Fowler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby Ann Layton, age 64, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home near Marianna.
Mrs. Layton was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Oklahoma, to Leroy Brown and Viola Mae Flaherty Brown. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her mother Viola Brown in 2000, her father, Leroy Brown in 1972, a son, Benjamin Dearing in 1992, and two daughters, Opal Layton in 1967, and Shelia Layton in 1989.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Layton of Bald Knob, Gary Layton and William Layton both of Marianna; a daughter, Cecilia Browning of McRae; six brothers, Willie Brown of Monroe, Roy Brown of Oklahoma, Lewis Brown of Danville, Johnnie Brown of Houston, Joddie Brown and David Brown both of Marianna; four sisters, Mary Walker and Dorothy Ables both of Marianna, Alice Marshall of Searcy, and Ruth Hollis of Harrisburg; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, Monday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Church of God in Marianna with Rev. Ken Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

James Vincent "Vick" Nelson
James Vincent "Vick" Nelson, age 42, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at his home in Widener.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his birth mother, Shirley Lucas; his foster mother, Marie Nelson of Widener; a sister, Janet Russell of Forrest City; a half-sister, Michelle Douglas of Forrest City; and a brother, Don Nelson of Forrest City.
Services will be held graveside Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home.
