Willie B. Williams
Willie B. Williams, 51, died Tuesday, December 8, in his home.
He was a resident of Lee County and was employed as a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Williams of Marianna; seven daughters, Doris Walton, Lela Williams, Mildred Denise Smith, Frances Murray, Kasheena Williams, Andrea Jenill Williams, all of Marianna; and Sellastine Williams of Flint, MI; six sons, Willie B. Williams, Jr. of Flint, Terrance Williams, Brian Williams, Harvey Carlton, Crist Edward, all of Marianna; and Kevin Gladney of Denver; six sisters, Leala Terrell of Peoria, IL, Louise Williams of Dallas, Doris Williams and Loretta Williams, both of Marianna; Lorene Williams of Phoenix, AZ and Evelena Runnels of Dallas; six brothers, Lerory Williams, Jr., Gary Williams, Louis Williams and Lloyd Williams, all of Gary, IN; K.C. Williams of Forrest City and Early Williams of Peoria, IL; his mother, Mrs. Ruby Williams of Marianna; 11 grandchildren and an aunt, Neoma Love of Spencer, OK.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12 at 2 p.m. at Walnut Grove M.B. Church. Burial followed at Pilgrim Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Will Tinzie
Will Tinzie, 81, died Monday, December 7, in Helena.
He was a resident of Lee County.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Tinzie of Marianna; four daughters, Mattie Taylor, Lena Mae Tinzie, Helena Tinzie and Mary Turner, all of Marianna; four sons, William Tinzie and Sammy Tinzie, both of Forrest City, Willie Tinzie of Jonesboro and Andrew Tinzie; one brother, Lue Gene Tinzie of Gill; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem M.B. Church with Rev. E. Turner officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Georgia Moshier
Georgia Gambrell Moshier, 84, died Saturday, December 12 in a nursing home in Abilene, Texas.
She was born in Marianna, where she graduated from high school. She attended Galloway College in Searcy. She married Walter Moshier in 1949 and lived in Bellaire, Texas, for 56 years before moving to Abilene in 1996. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Moshier, Sr., of Abilene; one daughter, Ann Gilliland of Abilene; one son, Walter Moshier, Jr., of Whitney, TX; two grandchildren, Connie Watson of Lubbock and Mitchell Moshier of Whitney and one great- granddaughter, McKaleigh Watson of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Gilliland. 
Graveside services were held Wednesday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Gap Cemetery with Rev. Scott Mayer officiating.
Arrangements were handled by North's Funeral Home in Abilene.

Mary Etta Davis
Mary Etta Spriggs Davis died Thursday, December 10, in Jewish Hosptial in Louisville, KY.
She was a former resident of Marianna.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Jan Davis Blair, and a great-granddaughter, Celina Blair, both of Toledo. 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, at 11 a.m. at Paradise M.B. Church in Marianna. Eastern Star Services will follow the eulogy. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, December 18, from 6-7 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home in Marianna.
Arrangements are being handled by Kennedy Funeral Home.

Amanda Tomlin
Amanda Tomlin, 93, died Sunday, December 13, in Crestpark Nursing Home.
She was a resident of Lee County.
She is survived by three daughters, Vernitta Love of Pine Bluff, Opal Colton of Forrest City and Mertha Rogers of St. Louis; two sons, Thedell Tomlin of St. Louis and Leonard Bridges of Youngstown, OH; 45 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, at 1:30 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Love officiating. Burial will follow at Stanley Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 18, at 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.
Arrangements are being handled by J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Stanley Coleman
Stanley Coleman, 76, died Monday, December 7, at Memphis Regional Medical Center.
He was a resident of Lee County and a member of the New Bethel M.B. Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Pearlethe Collins of Marianna; two sons, Cedric Coleman of West Memphis and Cecil Coleman of Marianna; seven sisters, Hattie Mae Minor of Chicago, Louise C. Hicks of Aubrey, Dorothy Williams, Lucy Lee Carter and Catherine Brown, all of Kansas City, Odessa Vasser of West Helena and Charline Hamilton of Marianna; four brothers, Nathan Coleman of Rondo, Waivie T. Coleman of Buffalo, N.Y., Frankie Lee Coleman of Marianna and E.C. Coleman of Chicago;
and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 12, at 12 noon, at New Bethel M.B. Church with Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery in Rondo.
Pallbearers were Ronald Collins, Jr., Ronald Broussard, Sr., Darrius Sims, Marchetti Smith, Dexter Mims and Cecil Coleman, Jr. 
Honorary pallbearers were the Friendly Five, Deacons of the New Bethel Church and Deacons of Spring Grove Church.
Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home. 

Lonnie Lee
Lonnie Lee, 69, died Thursday, December 24, in Crestpark Nursing Home.
He was a resident of Lee County.
He is survived by his mother, Dovie Shannon Lee of Heber Springs; five brothers, Sharp Lee of Marianna, Orville Lee, Jr., and Roger Dale Lee, both of East Peoria, IL, Jerry Arnold Lee and Ivan Joe Lee, both of Heber Springs; four sisters, Bonnie Graham of Peoria, Patricia Norman of Creve Coeur, IL, Sue Hodges of Heber Springs and Linda Lloyd of Nashville.
He was preceeded in death by his sister, Jeannie Young and his father, Orville Lee, Sr.
Graveside services were held Monday, December 28, at 3 p.m. at Marianna Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Wilhite officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. 

Sonia Van Meter
Sonia A.S. Van Meter, 49, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Marvell, where she was an employee of Marvell LP Gas Co., died Wednesday, December 30, in Marietta.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ike M. Van Meter, the son of Mrs. Margaret Triplett of Marianna; two daughters, Sonia Nicole Van Meter and Jacqueline Danielle Van Meter, both of Marietta; her mother, Sonia Smith of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Laura Sanabria of Madrid, Spain; and a brother, Dr. Robert Smith of Roswell, Ga.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 4, in Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell at 1 p.m.
Arrangements were handled by SouthCare Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Smyrna, Ga.

Betty Griffith
Betty Stiles Griffith, 88, died Friday, January 1 [1999], at Helena Regional Medical Center.
She was a farmer and a member of the Methodist Church in Marianna.
She is survived by two sons, William R. Griffith of Rondo and Robert G. Griffith of Amory, MS; three sisters, Margurite Taylor of Vineyard, Ann Scott of Conway and Rubye Robards of Fayetteville; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Griffith.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 4, at 10 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Austin Hamilton officiating. Burial followed at Marianna Memorial Park.
Visitation was held at Roller-Citizens on Sunday, January 3, from 5-8 p.m.
Pallbearers were Ricky Griffith, Mark Griffith, David Griffith, Eric Griffith, Colby McChesney and John Griffith.
Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

James Wiggins, Jr.
James Wesley Wiggins, Jr., 78, died Wednesday, December 23, in his home.
He was a resident of Lee County and a member of Mt. Moriah M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Wiggins; three sons, Lee Andrew Wiggins of Parkin, James W. Wiggins, III of Phoenix and Charles Huron of Forrest City; six daughters, Maxine Robinson of Marianna, Diane Campbell of Gill, Lee Esther Lee of Little Rock, Mary Catherine Anderson of North Little Rock, Betty Jean Sharks of Phoenix and Ruby Mae Greening of Jacksonville; two brothers, Steve Wiggins and Sylvester Wiggins, both of Gill; one sister, Rosetta Wiggins of Gill; 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church with Rev. Johnny Lockhart officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marlon Wiggins, E. Lamar Lee, Randy Lee, Walter Whitley, Michael Whitley and Jamaal Broadway.
Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Lee A. Wiggins, Charles Huron Wiggins, Rev. Danny Robinson, Erron Lee, Melvin Campbell and James Wiggins III.
Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Pairlee Westbrook
Pairlee Westbrook, 87, died Thursday, December 24, at Crestpark Retirement Home.
She was a resident of Lee County and a member of Friendship M.B. Church in Rondo.
She is survived by four daughters, Hattie Cunningham of Middletown, OH, Tecolia Mitchell, Ethel Cross and Pauline Wade, all of St. Louis; one son, Walter Westbrook, also of St. Louis; two sisters, Theora Hensley of Benton Harbor, MI and Lucenda Brandon of Chicago; 22 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary and Frances; and two sons, Sherman and Frank.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 2, at 2 p.m. at Friendship M.B. Church with Rev. Earl Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Dean Woodson, Ronnie Westbrook, Donald Johnson, Ronald Scott, Steve Woodson and Stacey Oliver. 
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Friendship Baptist Church. 
Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Deangelo Gay
Deangelo Antwon Gay, 16, died Thursday, December 24.
He was a resident of St. Francis County and a member of Salem M.B. Church.
He is survived by his mother, Brenda Gay of Forrest City; his father, Shelton Cottrell of Little Rock; three brothers, Dale Walker of Forrest City, Gary Barton and Justin Cottrell, both of Little Rock; four sisters, Baranda Gay of Forrest City, Jerreca Barton, Precious Wallace and Haley Morrison, all of Little Rock, and his grandmother, Ms. Leola Gay of Blytheville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 31, at 11 a.m. at Salem M.B. Church in Forrest City with Rev. Felix B. Duckworth officiating. Burial followed at Casteel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Brown, Rashard Cunningham, William White, Jason Austin, David Terry and Yusuf Lambert.
Honorary pallbearers were Durayl Rooks, Hazzim Lambert, Lemont Jenkins, Ishmel Lambert, Andrew Mapson and Dedrick Murphy.

Elihue Dodd
Elihue Dodd, 73, died Thursday, December 24, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
He was a resident of Lee County and a member of Friendship M.B. Church. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Dodd; two daughters, Dorisey Brown of West Helena and Jareldine Mays of Lincoln, Nebraska; four sisters, Ophelia Williams of Helena, Mosella Lipsey of Marianna, Molene Cox of Chicago and Mildred Bonds, also of Chicago and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jasper Hale and Nadene Larry, and one brother, Nathaniel Dodd.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 29, at 12 noon, at Friendship M.B. Church in Rondo with Rev. Earl Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Friendship Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harvey Williams, Ronald Scott, Richard White, Walter Watson, Timmy White and I.C. Gordan.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Friendship Church.
Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Walter L. Wilson
Walter L. Wilson, 92, died Friday, December 31, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
He was a resident of Lee County and a retired principal of 45 years. He also was a member of Hampshire M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Simmons) Wilson; two daughters, Mary Kate Lee of St. Cerrito, CA and Verna Sanders of Phoenix and one brother, Lester Brookshire of Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, January 7 at 11 a.m. at Hampshire M.B. Church in Aubrey with Rev. Lathan Ester officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Gardens in Edmondson.
Pallbearers will be Rev. Cecil Coleman, Rev. Cedric Coleman, Rev. N. Gillispie, Rev. B. Randle, Rev. Parnell Randle and Willie King.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Hampshire and Antioch M.B. Churches.

Cora E. Mosley
Cora E. Dandredge Mosley, 74, died Wednesday, December 23, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
She was a resident of Lee County and a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She also was an Associate Matron of Starlight Chapter #73.
She is survived by her husband, Shafter Mosley; six children, Doris T. Dandredge and Eva Redmond, both of Chicago, Minister Daryl K. Dandredge and Betty E. Taylor, both of Little Rock, Al Dandredge, Sr. of Kensett and Arthella Hicks of Farmers Branch, TX; a daughter, Corinne Cass of Chicago; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Willie Jakes; and five sisters, Betty Chatman, Elizabeth James, Evangelist S. Pearl Sanders, Callie B. Adams, all of Chicago and Celestine Jakes of Los Angeles. 
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 2, at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist M.B. Church in Marianna with Rev. Daryl K. Dandredge officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion M.B. Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leon D. Dandredge, Andrea Dandredge, Elliot L. Taylor, Ricky Jones, Leroy Shackleford, Calvin Rachel and Lacy Wells.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
Arrangements were handled by Marianna Funeral Home.

Mary Lee Allen
Mary Lee Walton Allen, 62, died Thursday, December 31, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
She was a life-long resident of Lee County.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Robinson and Denise Allen, both of Memphis, and Mary J. Allen of Little Rock; one son, Leon Allen; two sisters, Arlean Hall and Jereline Carlock, both of Marianna; one brother, Earnest Walton, also of Marianna and many grand and great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mae Francis White and Alice Redden and three brothers, West Walton, Robert Walton and Alex Walton.
Funeral services will be held at New Bethel M.B. Church in Marianna on January 9 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Cemetery.
Arrangements will be handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.

Beatrice Joshua
Beatrice Dees Joshua, 94, died Thursday, December 31, in Los Angeles. 
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, at 12 noon, at St. John M.B. Church in Brickeys. Burial will follow at SurForney Young Cemetery.
