She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Baker; parents, Rev. and
Mrs. Lennie Jones; a brother, Archie Jones, and a sister, Iva Lee Jones.
Survivors include her husband, J.W. Webb, Demopolis; daughters, Sylvia
V. (Frank) Malone, Demopolis, and Sandra V. (George) McDaniel, Decatur,
Ala.; a son-in-law, Blair (Cynthia) Baker, Demopolis; sister-in-law, Christine
Jones, Springville; a brother, Bruce Jones, Decatur, Ga.; eight grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ezelle J. Webb was a native of Cullman, Ala. and a resident of Demopolis,
Ala. She was employed by Vanity Vair of Demopolis for over 30 years.

Reedie Dodd Hollingsworth
NORTHPORT - Mrs. Reedie Dodd Hollingsworth, age 93 of Northport, formerly
of Fayette Co. (White's Chapel area), died Tuesday, June 5, 2001 in the
Baptist Medical Center Montclair at B'Ham. Mrs. Hollingsworth was born
on October 11, 1907 in Fayette Co. a daughter of Virgil Ray Dodd and Laura
Jane Whitehead Dodd, resident of the White's Chapel area most of her life,
resident of Northport past nine years, widow of Tom Hollingsworth, co-owner
of Hollingsworth Grocery in Fayette, Co. and a member of White's Chapel
Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by a daughter, Mary Jo Ingle and all her brothers and sisters. Survivors
include her daughter Mrs. Ruby Couch, Northport; five grandchildren, Chad
Ingle, Randall Ingle, Jeff and John Meredith Couch and Kathy Ann Hollis;
three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; hosts of nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 8, 2001 at 1 p.m. from the
McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Larry Alexander was the officiating
minister. Burial followed in the New River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery

TUSCALOOSA - Celia Barber Marasco passed away on June 17, 2001 at her
residence in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the age of 79. Mrs. Marasco lived most
of her life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she attended local schools,
She was an outstanding student at South Division High School and led the
class of 1939 as valedictorian. Both she and her late husband, Michael
"Mickey" were longtime business owners founding a leading craft supply
store in Midwest, Marasco's Craft King. Celia was a devoted wife and loving
mother, grandmother (nana), and great-grandmother (nana grande) known for
her kindness and generosity. In recent years, she moved to Tuscaloosa where
she made many new friends and enjoyed quiet retirement.
Mrs. Marasco was a member of Christ King Perish in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
for forty years. She was active in the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee
and was a member of the Ladies of Unico. Mrs. Marasco generously contributed
to local charities and established several scholarship funds for high school
graduates and medical residents at Mayo Clinic.
Survivors of Mrs. Marasco include her daughters, Francine Marasco and
her companion William D. Coons of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Corrine Wolfrom
and her husband Robert of Raleigh, North Carolina, her grandchildren, Monica
Chrysandreas and her husband Stelios of Fort Worth, Texas, Luis Pavon and
his wife Judi of Knoxville, Tennessee, Anthony Pavon and his wife Sharon
of Tuscaloosa, and Cecily McGinnis and her husband Francis of Raleigh.
Her precious great-grandchildren, Elena Chrysandreas, Alexa and Maya Pavon,
Julia and Michael Pavon, also survive her as well as many relatives and
A very special thank you to her devoted caregivers Heather Lineberry,
Brenda Brasher and Alma Tutwiler. In addition, sincere appreciation to
Dr. Isabel Oldshue and staff, personnel of Hospice of West Alabama along
with many friends who offered support and kindness during her illness.
Visitation were held on June 18, 2001 from 6 to 8 pm at St. Francis

of Resurrection will be celebrated on June 19 at noon also at St. Francis.

The Eastern Star. As a past Matron she was a recent honored member. Wilner
loved growing up on a rustic farm in Hagler Community, Duncanville, Ala.
She was a very hard worker all her life. Gardening, cotton farming, canning,
sewing, and not least of all cooking.
She played Jr. High School basketball and loved Ben and Minty, her
parents, very much. Wilner worked at Central Foundry, doing her patriotic
duty, during WW II.
She was an active member of Alberta Baptist Church more than 50 years.
Wilner maintained a boarding home for Partlow outpatients for many years.
She loved flowers and yard work, keeping beauty always around the people
she loved. She loved all her family and wanted to express life's beauty
in everyday living. We love her dearly and she will be missed beyond compare.

Wilner always expressed her thanks for the special loving care, especially

UNIONTOWN | Earnest Tanner, 86, Franklin and Broadway Street, died
July 31, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at Kidd-Robbins Chapel
on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Pete Hicks officiating.
Burial will follow in Ella White Cemetery, Uniontown. Visitation will be
tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Tanner; parents, Willie
White and Mamie Tanner; three brothers, Cain, Lee, James Tanner; two sisters,

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Calhoun, Uniontown; son, Larry
Wayne Tanner, Merritt Island, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Hines, Huntsville,
Mary Lee Boren, Demopolis; brother, Willie White (Dick) Tanner, Mobile;
grandchildren, Kaye Calhoun Garrett, Bradley Tanner, Whitney Tanner, Decatur;
Karen Calhoun McKelvy, Bailey Town, Ala., Luke Calhoun, Wetumpkia, Stephanie
Tanner, Wichita, Kansas, Brian Tanner, Birmingham; Lisa Waller, Merritt
Island, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Brandon Williams,
He was a native of Cuba Alabama and was employed by P. R. Mallory Manufacturing
Co., in Huntsville Ala., and lived in Uniontown, Ala.
After his retirement he was a member of Uniontown Baptist Men's Sunday
School Class and a member of the C.C. C. Construction Corp.

Charles Julian, Jerry Wayne Julian, William Clinton Julian.

FAYETTE | Emile Henry Peiffer, 74, 296 Piney Grove Road, died July
31, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at Piney Grove Church
on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. with Rev. E. J. Lowery and Rev. Delton
Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation
is tonight from 6-8 p.m. The body will lie instate 30 minutes prior to
services. Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette is directing.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Peiffer of Fayette; daughter,
Tammy Peiffer Bigham (Charles) of Tuscaloosa; son, Robert Eric Peiffer
(Tina) of Dilham, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Born in Gillette, WY on March 15, 1927. Graduate of Tuscaloosa County
High School (Class of 1948). Served in the Navy in World War Ii from 1944-1946.
Retired from U.S. Corps of Engineers Machine Shop.

Otha Mae Pate
NORTHPORT | Otha Mae Pate, 75, of #27 Northgate Circle, went home to
be with the Lord on July 30, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held
at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 11 a.m., with
Rev. Wayne Bruchey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body
will lie in state one hour prior to service. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home
of Northport is directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Milton Pate, Sr.; two
brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include five daughters, Willie Mae (Wayne) Smith, Tuscaloosa,
Betty Jean Porter, Coker, Susie (Joe) Welester, Guin, Martha (Mike) Haygood,
Moundville, Bell (Junior) Stevens, Moundville; five sons, Howard (Ruth)
Smith, Duncanville, Nelson (Regina) Smith, North Carolina, Thomas (Barbara)
Pate, Jr., Northport, Robert (Sheila) Pate, Northport, Claude (Samantha)
Pate, Gadsden; one brother, Earl Moxley, Oregon; 23 grandchildren, 15 great
Mrs. Pate, known best "Granny Pate" to most, was a lifelong member
of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother
and friend to all that knew her.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Terry Porter, Jamie Gray, Charlie
Haywood, Tommy Pate, Frankie Pate, Chad Pate, Jason Smith, Adam Webster
and Mitch Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Parker, Sr., members
